Hey all,

 

So I’ve never worn a buff before, but I got one none the less. It’s an under armour brand. It’s labeled as a neck gaiter not sure if that matters. However I noticed when I pull it up to cover my entire face (over my nose) my sunglasses constantly fog up. Is this just a price of wearing a buff? Or do I need a better one or different sunglasses? 

All the ones I have ever used will fog my glasses if I wear them over my nose. From the research I've done, I didn't find a general consensus for any on the market that won't do that to some degree. 

Probably is a side effect of face shape.  My glasses fog when I wear one like that too.

I notice if I breath out of my mouth (which is not natural for me) then my glasses won't fog up. 

Play with it and you’ll eventually find a spot that works for you. The problem is, it depends completely on your face shape and the shape of the glasses. I have to adjust mine differently depending on the sunglasses I’m wearing. It’s definitely an issue though. They do make some that have holes meant to go over your mouth. Never owned one that stuff though, so I couldn’t tell you if it helps alleviate the fogging problem.

I have to mess with how mine is positioned to get it to not fog up. Basically, it has to be up under my glasses a bit, almost covering my whole nose to keep from fogging my glasses. Sometimes I just opt to grease my nose. It's mainly the hard to reach/see/cover places like my ears, all around my neck, and my head (short hair), that I'm trying to cover with it. 

Alternatively, where a had with a bill that shades your nose and move the buff down until it’s no longer covering your nose.

 

or you can get some anti-fog for your glasses which will help a little.

I have the simms gaiter with the holes in it. It helps with the fogging but not cures it. I cut between 2 of the holes and try to keep it lined up so that cut section is right on my nostrils, and it really helped. 

I use the Simms but i also apply a couple coats of anti-fog on my glasses.  It keeps them fog free.

This is what I do.  I rarely cover my mouth also and I wear SPF lip balm to prevent my lips from getting sun burned.  I usually wear mine like this:

 

 

If my sun glasses are touching it they will fog up. I keep it on my nose but away from my shades. The worst time for it fogging up is in the winter time for me.

I have a couple of them with vent holes and it helps a lot in the summer, but once the weather gets cool in my glasses will fog up unless I’m standing completely still.  

 

I have the beginnings of a big bushy hillbilly beard coming in and I fear that it’s going to make wearing a buff pretty much impossible.  

I will have to play around with it, and also maybe invest in some anti fog. 

I wear clothes when I fish.  I don't go in the buff.  I'd be afraid of "snagging"

Never have I appreciated all that underwear does for us then I did in that instant.  

Some brands of neck gaiters have vent holes over the nose. Some are balaclava (hood) shaped. I like those best. (Cabelas brand is nice).

 

when it’s hot, I pull the hood over my head and wear a visor rather than than a hat. 

 

I always have sun sleeves, gloves and hood on. 

You can make anti fog. A little dawn dish soap in water. Spray on your glasses and let it dry. Wipe it off and you're good to go. I had the same problem so I didn't cover my nose. Then I experimented with the solution I mentioned and it works.
