Exchanging Broken rod?

Featured Replies

I have two broken rods that I purchased from Dick's Sporting Goods but i lost the receipts. Both rods broke. one has a broken guide and the other broke in half. I know that they carry both models in store, but not the same length and action. My question is will the store allow me to exchange both rods without a receipt for different lengths? oh and i put winn grips on the rod with the broken guide and left the plastic cover on the cork on so the rod will look brand new. and it was barely used

Did you try calling Dick's to find out? I'd think they'd be the best source to give you an answer.

Very doubtful.  Were they defective or was it accidental damage?

Store brand rod, maybe. Other manufacture, probably not. Having a recite means everything on a return.

Quarry Man if I remember correctly you are located  in PA.  I would take the rod with a bad guide to a shop and get it repaired. The last one I had repaired cost like $20.

If you are willing to travel to MD I have an amazing rod repair guy.  Toms Custom rods is located in Bel Air MD.

Check out his website. http://www.tomscustomrods.com/

Tom has done some amazing repairs and customization to some of my rods.

I will probably end up repairing the rod.

I am recusing myself from this thread. My wife is a Regional Loss Prevention Supervisor for a sporting goods retailer ( not DSG, thank the Christ). The stories and the videos are utterly amusing.

I bought a spincast combo for my son last year, one of those $25 ones and the handle broke after a couple weeks, only using it maybe twice. I chucked the receipt but brought it in anyways and they replaced it with no questions. But I'm pretty sure it was logged in my Dick's rewards card so maybe they looked it up that way.

i found the receipt for the cheaper rod and ended up just returning it for my 40$ back. Im going to get the other rod repaired.
