Shimano Casitas vs *** Origin TX

Featured Replies

Hi. Looking at a bait casting reel that can do double duty as both a bass reel and some light inshore fishing. These two look like they are well regarded. The *** has about 5 lbs more drag, 13 versus 18. Anyone have experience with these reels and which one would you choose and why? Thanks.

Shimano casitas is a very nice reel very easy to cast and cast weightless plastics with ease. It’s very forgiving to an inexperienced Baitcasting angler minimal backlash. I love that little reel it palms very nicely as for drag you really don’t need more than 11 pounds of drag for fresh water bass fishing. You can get one for 60$ on eBay. As for the other reel that will continue to remain nameless, I have no experience with them.

The casitas is a nice reel and has lots of positive reviews. I just purchased a new baitcaster and it was between the casitas and the Daiwa Fuego. I ended up with the Fuego because of their mag z breaking system and aluminum frame. Food for thought

I bought the TX a couple months ago, used it once, then returned it.  I dig the color and it actually felt really good in hand but...Honestly, I don't know if it was defective but after a couple casts, it started squealing and rattling like something was broken inside the gearcase.  Drag was definitely stout and it was pretty smooth on the retrieve.  I'm tempted to try it again if it ever drops back down to $63 like I saw on Academy.com but only as a dedicated flipping/pitching reel.

I had a casitas until I dropped it into the drink and bought a chronarch. The casitas was awesome for the money. I cant believe its such a nice reel at that price point and I would not buy any other.

If you're right handed, Academy.com has the Casitas for $69.99 right now.  Both ratios.  It's a hot buy so it won't last long.

I've owned the casitas for a couple or so months now and It's my favorite reel so far! Very smooth casting and you can bomb lures very far! I use it mainly with spinner baits, senkos and smaller jigs. Mainly cast anything above 1/4 oz with it, but I've casted some lures lighter than that on it before and it handled it pretty well. I strongly recommend this reel

I've had no experience with the origin TX, but I do use a ***  A and enjoy that reel.

I suggest getting the Daiwa Fuego, great breaking system and aluminum frame for $99 at most.
