Anyone use Cheap Amazon Bobber Stops??

Featured Replies

Does anyone use the cheap bobber stops that are on Amazon such as these and have any comments as to how well they work to peg weight? >>https://www.amazon.com/VIPMOON-Fishing-Stopper-Cylinder-Available/dp/B07CMZYXPJ/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1532901267&sr=8-9&keywords=bobbers+stops

They are about 1/3rd the cost of the 6th Sense or VMC. I would just pull the trigger on them since its only $7, but I figured I'd ask around first.

When I search I could only find a post related to someone trying to use a similar cheap one for dropshotting.

Yup ~ I do.

Snagged a Life Time Supply a while back.

There's some on E-Bay that are about the same quality & Cost as well.

I've used the 6th Sense product as well.

These seem pretty much the equivalent to me.

Yup!!! They work perfectly

Never used any bobber stops from Amazon. I get all mine(6th Sense Peg X Stoppers) from Academy. Only $1.99, before my discount! Plus I just saw a video today on how to reuse them whenever need be. It does work! ?

Those end up being about a quarter a piece. The ones I’m looking at are more like a nickel. Needless to say, I’m tight haha

6th Sense only for me. eBay and Amazon ones slide up the line with anything over 1/2oz weight or in cover. That's the lightest weight I'll use for flipping too. They're good for everything else though. If you're trying to save more then $1.99 then you're beyond tight!

Which seller are y’all getting them from? I saw some mixed reviews. Wanna make sure they won’t slip inside a 2oz tungsten weight before i place my order.

They all come from China anyways so why not save the money. Yes they work great and those complaining need to compare apples to apples. What I am saying is the small bobber stops from Amazon will not hold a 2oz weight neither will the expensive ones of the same size. Make sure you are using the correct on or just do like I have been and put 2 of them on.

2oz weights are what we use in saltwater, personally never

used in fresh (don't do much punching), so really couldn't say

whether these would do well. I'd grab the small size for more

line compression.

I searched my Amazon history and couldn't find the seller I

used. Pretty sure I mentioned it in an older post here, tho.

As mentioned, they all come from China, probably same factories.

I just tie a bobber stop knot with a strand of nylon from inside a section of parachute cord. Much more reliable. I've had the rubber ones get embedded inside of weights and slip floats and even had slip float go past them which required me to cut mainline and reset the whole thing before I could fsh again. So no more stops for me.

Got the same thing and it was my wife's idea !

Yep, they work as good as anything else i've used. You get a lifetime supply for around 6 bucks.

Yup .... me as well.

My brothers must think i get them for free because they take some every time they are in my garage.

I'd rather just spend the $1.99 on a pack of 9 6th Sense ones I've been getting and now that I know I can reuse them, a pack of 9 is practically a lifetime supply. Plus I don't have to wait to get them in the mail or pay shipping. ?

How do you re-use them?

You cut the line off 5-6” above the bobber stopper then tie a knot to the old line with your new mainline. Then you just slide the stop over the knot onto the new mainline. There is a brief video floating around somewhere demonstrating it.

Ah... that's another reason I never liked them, thought they were single use deals... well that's easy! But bet I can still tie a uni/bobber stop knot with nylon faster than you can do that! :P

You are correct. It's on YouTube. I tried to say the name of it in an earlier post on this thread, but it wouldn't allow it I guess. The only thing I can add to what you said about reusing them is to wet the line before sliding the stop onto your new main line. ?

I still have some of the Tru-Tungsten ones if I need to use large weights. Since I only paid like $20 for 600 rings I don't worry about re-using them.

Just buy the lifetime supply off Amazon and you don't have to worry about reusing them. Man I'm cheap, but not reusing bobber stop cheap.

To each his own. I don't worry about reusing them because it's so easy to do and they are there when I need them, not on the way in the mail. I'm all for whatever works for everybody else. Just was giving my .02 worth. ?
