Magnum Shakey Head fishing

Featured Replies

I have gotten into off shore fishing this summer (mainly deep diving crankbaits). I want to try fishing bigger worms on heavier shakey heads. I am getting ready to order some 9 inch T-Macs and 1/2 stand up jigs for starters. Anyone had success/advice with this technique?

My most productive ledge rig is the Rage Tail Thumper (Blue Fleck) T-rigged on a 6/0 EWG hook.

I'd go with a bigger worm for them for sure. The 9" T mac is just a longer version of the standard T mac, no thicker or anything. I like the YUM Mighty worm, 10.5" and as big around as a Sharpie makes it more attractive to those offshore fish. I pour my own standup football shakyheads with a 7/0 hook to use with them. I prefer to just drag them along the bottom, counting rocks.

Try the Zoom Magnum Trick Worms. Hammonds should have them.

I have done well this summer with the 11 inch netball c mac. On a couple occasions when they did not want a ribbon tail, the magnum trick worm produced.

Texas rigged both on a 5/0 ewg with a 1/4 or 5/16 oz. Weight.

Plum or black have produced the most.

My favorite straight tails have been the Upton's Customs. He's got sizes sizes from your standard 6" worms up to 20". Nice thing is they float unweighted and are nice and soft so you get nice action and the worm will stand straight up off the bottom.
