rod tip replacement

I need to replace a rod tip { knocked out the insert } . How do I go about getting the correct size eye ? There is no place close to repair it or buy eyes and  its not worth sending off .

If you're are looking for a quick and cheap fix, I've used the kit that Walmart sells to repair a tip, and it has worked surprisingly well.  The replacement is still rock solid on my rod.  The kit comes with 3 different tip diameter guides, so one of them will most likely fit.

If the first suggestion doesn't work try calling the rod manufacture. They will often times just send you the replacement tip top for free.

I bought that kit before and they were all to big .

This is a Gander Mountain Guide Series rod , so that wont work .

Do you plan to replace the whole top guide or just insert? I think there are 2 kits for Fuji guide available, one regular and one mini/micro guide.

I tried gluing the insert back in and it didnt last . I want to remove it and replace it .

I grabbed an assortment off ebay of like 80 tips, for a few bucks from china. It's like 5 and 10 each of several different sizes...take a few weeks to get though...

edit:I see a few US shippers so maybe wait isn't that long. $6-8 ....

Funny you mention that, as I just bought that kit from walmart. I had planned on getting the Fuji kit from BPS initially, but then I saw the kit while I was at walmart and saved me a 30 mile one way trip to BPS. The Hurricane rod tip kit came with pac bay guides.   I just hope one of the 3 tips will fit my rod. If not, I will ask the rod builders if I should use calipers and determine the right size.

I used the one that was barely too small for my rod. I heated up the metal base with a lighter, and was able to slip it over the rod, and that has been rock solid for me.  Extremely happy with it for the small amount a paid for the kit.

Nope not last at all, I had done the same to one of my rod last only a few fish and insert came of again.

I think you only need top guide that bigger but close enough to your blank. You can fill the blank with loop of braid around it to get tight fit.

Maybe sent just the tip top guide to @Delaware Valley Tackle and see if he can match it.

The top should slip on easily but not be sloppy. I don't suggest arboring them to fit. They are sized in 1/64 in increments and available in half sizes (1/128 increments). The kits are an acceptable DIY repair
