Small glide bait/swimbait setup

Featured Replies

Just wondering what everyone is throwing smaller glide baits and Swimbaits on like the s-waver 168, 6” triple trout, 5”-6” bullshad.

Dobyns 795 and any 200 size reel is fine.

I use a dobyns 795 Fury and a Tatula 200HD for the exact baits you named (minus the bullshad, I don't own one).

Daiwa DXSB rod and Tatula HD. I love this set up. I can throw 1-6oz on it. Absolute work horse.

This is what I have been throwing them on in open water (795) and Recently started more target fishing them mostly around laydowns, bushes and docks on a 764 I feel more accurate with the 764. Surprisingly no one seems to throw them on a lighter setup like this.

I use a Custom built on the St. Croix  LTBC79HF.

G-Loomis E6X 884 SWB + Shimano Curado 201 E7 for that kind of baits.

If you are only throwing the 6" baits yea the shorter rod one power down is probably a good choice. I use my 795 for anything from 168s to 9" Slammers so the 795 works better all around for me.

I throw sub-3oz swim and glide baits on a megabass hyuga 72h and an sv103.  I switch between 55lb braid and 25lb Defier Armilo mono.   I can't decide which I like better.
