Curado k making noise

Recommended Posts

My curado k has been making and odd noise when I reel, it’s not a old reel. I took it to get cleaned to see if that would fix it, but it’s still the same. It happened after a trip when I was skipping under docks, and my breaks were all the way up I was wondering if that caused this. If so I don’t know what’s wrong with it. The noise is sort of like a grinding noise or like something is rubbing against something. The reel has been buttery smooth and made no noise at all until now, any ideas on what’s making the noise?

Noises mean different things to different people and are impossible to diagnose without a video or having hands on it. Send it to shimano for warranty repair.

I knew it was, but there's no way to get into a discussion about that guy and keep it PG.

You talking about noise on the cast, or retrieve.  If it is on the cast, the brass drum against which the brakes rub will "squeal" a bit if it is dry.  Just remove the cover, dampen a Qtip with oil and rub it around a few times.  Don't over apply oil.  If it the noise is on the retrieve, your micro drive gear needs a coat of heavy grease and Shimano recommends a grease like their ACT2, which is really drag grease.  Light grease on the micro gears may result in a "grinding" noise.   Hope this helps.
