S-Waver Color

Featured Replies

What color S-Waver would be best for small ponds?  I heard a lot of good things about the trout colors, but theres no trout in the bodies of water i fish. I thinking of getting I Know It or Bluegill. Are there any other colors i should consider getting?

I just picked a bluegill on up for myself. I feel that if you fish ponds that don't all have shad in them, I would not use the I Know It. All ponds have bluegill in them

If you are fishing ponds with dirtier water I would consider getting a pattern with chartreuse in it.

Yeah, there's a lot of little panfish and the water around here is mostly stained.

The 1st person to recommend the S Waver 168 to me was Matt Neuman (IRod) about 5 years ago and the colors was what turned me off. The colors were bright and not natural looking, the trout was more charteuse green, the baby bass didn't look like it lived in a nuclear pond. I bought both and learned from experience the colors worked because it's the action of the lure that is more important.

When S Wavers came out in the 200 size they offered bone and a Shad type color and both of those worked. I wouldn't get too hung up on S Waver colors.

I would find some chartreuse in your bait. you can also catch some of those baitfish and find an exact match

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

You are welcome. I would buy the same size bait as the panfish that you see. Either 120 or 168s

Not so sure exact color is all that important. I think fish behavior and lure action are primary. I fish small waters and went with I Know It. But it seemed it quickly sells out, so I nabbed a couple when the notification came in. :) So... does color matter? To me it does. The fish... not so sure.

I know it is a favorite.  The 168 size is best imo

Lite trout and bone are my favorite colors, there's no trout where I'm fishing either.

Just do yourself a favor and get Lite Trout

I've caught a lot of fish on an I Know It 168 in a pond that has no shad (all bluegill and perch).  I thought it was a good compromise color that looked like a lot of different forage.

I wouldn't hesitate to get the trout color though.  I've caught bass in the same pond on other trout imitation baits!
