New Angler from PA

Featured Replies

Howdy! Relatively new angler here — I just caught my first bass last weekend. I was intimidated at first, but I’m solidly addicted now that I’m catching fish.

I’m mostly throwing spoons and inline spinners on small ponds and lakes here in northeast PA. I’ve been catching dinks for the most part, but yesterday I got in a wrestling match with a two-pounder. The pickerel bite is phenomenal here and even a novice like me can catch 24” chainsides without too much effort - so even when the bass aren’t biting I’m still catching something. Come spring I’m deeeefinitely buying a boat.

Glad to be here! I’ve got a hell of a lot to learn.

Northeast PA? Does that mean New Hope?

Great having you with us. I lived in the greater Philly area for 8 years and enjoyed the Flyers, 76ers and Phillies plus the cultural events were outstanding.

Wife is from Indiana, Pennsylvania and grew up on a dairy farm.

Nice having you with us.

I’m in the Poconos. No stranger to New Hope though, I lived right across the bridge in Lambertville for a few years. Love the Bucks County area.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

And I love the Poconos and Bucks County.

Have you been to the Bryers Club place on the way to New Hope? Great day trip for you and the family.

Would like to visit New Hope once again if my wife is up to it.

We stayed at a B&B in Lambertville last time we visited about 10 years ago.

Take care and go fishing.

If you have a canoe or kayak and you are near Jim Thorpe check out Mauch Chunk Lake. Great lake for largemouth bass and other panfish. Bring some bass spinners and worms for some good fishing.

Welcome to BR!
