Kast King Royale Legend Elite

Recommended Posts

Okay I couldn't find any info on this site for the Royale Legend Elite so I figured I'd start the topic. I really want this reel for a jig rod. It's by far KK's cleanest reel yet in my opinion. Especially with its lower profile something Kastking hasn't really seemed to achieve yet. The breaking system looks good and I personally love the side-plate that comes with it. I've watched every non-paid for review and as tackle advisors took it apart he completely bashed on it but he seems quite biased on the other hand its field test done by the youtuber "the reel test" looked phenomenal beating out the tatula CT type R. I was blown away... I kept doing research and was disapointed that it looks like a complete copy of the banax titanic. At this point do I pull the trigger or use my school discount on a lews that may not have the flash or casting distance but more proven dependability.

(Also does anyone have experience with this reel?)

I've been fishing the red, 8.1:1 model for a couple months now. It's a solid reel that's done everything I've asked it to. I'm using it with 20lb braid for bigger topwater walking baits and ploppers but would have no issues fishing a jig on it. The cast controls are easy to adjust and seem to have more input on the cast than some of their other reels do. I'm not personally a big fan of Lew's, great reels but I hate the handles and have had longevity issues with the lower end reels.

Just out of curiosity, why are you disappointed that it looks like a copy? It likely means Kastking is making their reels with Banax now instead of Trulinoya.

Did you check out the Kastking Megajaws yet? Seems like a great reel and lower in price ($60) than the RLE which seems to me to be a bit overpriced at $75. also a 10% discount right now. Only a few left as they sold out fast.

As far as Lew's goes, you can probably get a Lew's LFS on Ebay for the same price as the RLE. Or a Tournament MB for $100 both of these are superior to the RLE IMO.

I should have saved the video of the whale of a buffalo I caught on my RLE Friday. Snagged in the side of the head in heavy current on a lipless bait, heck of a fight, especially having to bring it over a submerged cable. Reel performed great.

What’s your budget ?

I don’t think the type R is better than the kast king just because some Youtuber says it castes farther. The type r has everything better than the royal legend giving it a deserved higher price point.

Tackle Advisors is a clown. If it doesn't say Shimano than its garbage to him. He also has some weird resentment towards any OEM produced reels (KK, Abu, Lews, etc).

I'd try the Kast King Royale with Cheese Legend Elite
