I'm in England and would love to watch FMC, particularly the London episode. Nat Geo Wild here doesn't show the program and is mostly fluffy animal shows. Does anyone know anywhere I could watch the episode, I'd be quite happy to pay to view. I subscribe to myourdoortv, but unfortunately they don't have the show.

It’s on nat geo wilds website here to view for free. I wonder if it also is there? If not, I watched it on Hulu the other day. Again, not sure if you all have that either. 

 

Seems like theyre trying to put it out there as much as possible to be viewed in a bunch of different formats. So you should be able to find it somewhere. 

 

Pretty decent show. Ike isn’t as annoying as usual but he’s still Ike. Well produced for sure. All in all I’d give it about a 7/10. 

CAn't see the US version of nat geo wild's website as it detects my region and goes to the fluffy bunny UK site. Particularly keen to see the London edition as I'm almost certain the stretch of the Thames he fished is one I regularly fish. Don't know about Hulu. It doesn't seem to like viewers from outside the US either.

Get a VPN and Directv now or Sling. They don't detect programs like that yet and you can stream all US TV if you so choose.

Thank you. I had no idea what you were talking about, but have done some googling. Still a little opaque on what a VPN is and what it does for me, but will try to find a simplistic answer, probably ask my little brother, he seems to know most things like that. LOL

I could walk you through it, but it's pretty simple. You find a VPN client you like (I use Express VPN,)  pay them, download their software, then choose the City of the server you want to connect to.

 

Your browser and other websites will think you are in that city. 

 

Keep in mind, the further away you are from that city, generally, the slower your connection will be.

OK, and can you turn it on and off? Sounds like it would be unhelpful for the sort of things google does to help you navigate through life.

Correct, it's very simple to disable at any time.

 

You just click a button on the app. You can get them for your smartphone as well.

Well the nice thing is, you can use a VPN to watch any programming you want from around the world essentially. Also, there are free VPNs that will accomplish the same thing, they are often just substantially slower and less reliable. 

How does the VPN allow you to watch the programming? Other than it not blocking you from websites because of your region? Does it have some function of accessing programming directly?

No.

 

All it's doing is bouncing your internet connection to a server hosted in another region (of your choice.) Your ISP,  internet browser, and the website you're on, see your internet activity coming from that area and deliver programming/content according to that location's access privelages, as opposed to the UK's. 

 

You're effectively just spoofing your location. This doesn't work as well on phones, because of the dual location services they often employ and require for apps to authenticate with.

This is the most complicated thing I have ever read! (Slow rainy day at work). I think I would just buy cable to avoid jumping though all those hoops haha

When you include the technical jargon it sounds immaculate, but it's as easy as downloading and installing an app. Then you're done.

Yep, it's generally a five minute affair.  If you know how to install solitaire on your phone, then you can install a VPN.

do a quick google search for Nat Geo Wild America. It should be able to redirect you to the us version. I have to do this with some websites I want to get to out of Germany.

There's probably a content filter on the website that determines viewer elegibility by the region your IP is registered under. Youtube does the same thing. You usually can't just bypass it by loading the website on a European domain.

If I google Nat Geo Wild UK it comes up and when I click on it it redirects me to the actual UK site. idk if UK servers will do the same over the pond
