Ok,  this may not be big to some of you but i have a question about the 5.5" beekley havoc swimmer that was designed by skeet reese.  I can't find anything on what hook to use.  I am guessing a 6/0. Too big?

And why are weedless hooks so light! Someone needs to custom make a 1/2oz 5 or 6/0 ewg with an owner centering pin!?

Sick Fish? I've got a pack of those in the back of a drawer somewhere. Never had much luck rigging them to look real myself.

Your right it's not a big swimbait.

You are wrong Skeet Reese didn't design the Sick Fish, copied the Little Creeper Trash Fish. If you want good rigging advice look up "Little Creeper Trash Fish, several vedios available on line.

They make weighted swimbait hooks in heavy weights but the hooks are all really large because swimbaits that need that much added weight are also really large. That is a small swimbait and would be pretty over-powered by 1/2 oz weight.  I imagine you would have to fish it really fast to keep it off the bottom.

I am trying to crawl it on the bottom.  I want to fish it along break lines and down points. My lakes are grassy and have A LOT of wooded cover. Jig heads are not an option. 1/4oz is not gonna maintain bottom contact.

Could i use an owner beast hook and a tungsten bullet weight? How would a bait like this swim behind a bullet weight?

And this finesse fisherman can't drop $15 on two trash fish. But these are at my ollies closeout store for $1.99.  It is a shameless copy tho. ?

Omgosh! I just watched Trash fish's product video.  The bait is an unscrupulous copy! Down to the way he talked about modding the tail. Wow, i had no idea.

Look up "rubber core sinker"

 

Pull the rubber insert, bend the weight open if needed, put on the shank of your chosen hook, mash the weight back together. That'll let you tailor it to whatever weight you need.

 

There was also a company called DOA (I think) that sold weights specifically designed to crimp on a hook shank.

If I'm not mistaken they paid Little Creeper for the rights to copy the bait. They didn't just steal the design, I mean they did but it was with Little Creeper's blessing.

My research says that I am gonna need to use a 6-7/0 hook.  Crimping the rubber core weight would be a good option.  The lakes I am fishing are flooded timber lakes.  NO WAY I am using a non weedless option.

This is a popular way to fish a fluke at times. I'm sure it would work with a swimbait as well.
