And I thought rods and reels were expensive.    Wanted to try a few different frogs.  Added a couple other lures to my cart.  Nearly crapped my pants.  Almost $200.  Jeez.    And this is from Discount Tackle....20% minimum savings on all items.  Imagine if I paid full price.

Dang! I bought some frogs from DSG on clearance/sale.

Not caught on them yet, but no where near $200 bills.

That said, I came home with 5 frogs.  

Yeah, well that’s how it always was. I got this guy sitting here and it cost about $20 twenty years ago. At 3 grams, I’ve never been able to cast it. Except a few test casts with a light spinner. But this year I’m determined. They didn’t even have the decency to put the brand on it. But I think it is a rapala.

 

Lures are a waste of money. And if the price is good, it’ll need better hooks. I hate spending $200 on lures so I’ll get or two every outing or two. But plastics, hooks and weights are ridiculous expensive if you lose 10-20 per outing, too.

 

 

 

 

Don't get into swimbaiting, I've had single baits that cost 2 bills ? I've downgraded recently though, my expensive baits are only 60-80 dollar range each now.   

Plastics are cheap (Zoom, Creme, Yum), and that is why I started with them.  I stuck with them because they work.

You should get into collecting Pre-Rap Warts. Fun times.

My rods and reels are turning into a collection instead of an arsenal.    Don't need to start collecting other items. 

It's the little stuff that really gets you over time. Nobody thinks twice about paying a couple bucks for something, but you pay it a million times.

Yep, I've argued that point many times about my swimbaits. Guys have no problem forking over 4-6 bucks a pack for plastics knowing they're going to lose them. A lot of plastics are done after 2-3 fish. I pay 25-70 bucks for a swimbait that I'm going to fish on heavy line and rods. I could potentially never lose that bait and catch hundreds if not thousands of fish through it's life, making the cost per fish way cheaper than a "cheap" bag of plastics in the long run. It's an odds game though, I cast off an $80 bait after catching about 10 fish on it, those fish were pretty expensive. 

Bass fishing can be expensive, but don't complain around around Musky guys.

I feel the same way chucking some of my old craw Warts that are bringing $40-80 a piece. If I hang one up on the first day using it, I want to cry. But if I can catch a few dozen nice fish on one, great!

Once you get past the hook, worm, and bobber phase, fishing in general becomes expensive lol.

While I agree in general but doesn't apply for us with toothy critters!  I've lost hard baits and soft baits equally last year because of those d**n snot rockets.  I won't use a steel or wire leader either because I find (maybe mental) but I have no confidence in catching fish if I do.

I believe I ordered 17 frogs.  Probably got carried away, but I didn't order more than 2 of any one color.  And those were only frogs that were highly recommended by fellow members.  (The frogs, not the colors.  )

 

EDIT:  Some colors I wanted were sold out.

I don't think that I have bought 17 frogs in my life.  I don't lose them.  Ever.  And it takes significant use/abuse to wear one out.  You should be set....your kids and grandkids, too.

I DO lose them.  I'm a hardcore froggin guy and I will throw a frog into anything.  I hang them up and destroy several each season.  By several I do NOT mean 17.  I think the most I've ever gone through in a season where at least HALF of my fishing is with a frog is 7.

Rocks and RIP rap will make the strongest fisherman cry.  I dont care if it's a MB jerk bait or a pizz Sb the rocks will brake you.

I don't get to do much frogging here in PA, but I usually wear out 1 or 2 a summer. Usually they get turned inside out enough times that they either tear or they get rethreaded by a hook point.

On the 8th day God created squarebills to combat this. 

You only need 2 colors of frogs.  White and black.

This theory doesn’t work with shore fishing, though, another reason I don’t throw crankbait/swimbait often but hudds. I remembered first time I used bull shad, I had to swim out to retrieve my lure. I think I lost total of 3 hudds last year.

I throw swimbaits all the time from shore. Only ones I've ever lost have been while in my boat lol.

Sure, if you are talking about the belly color.  I am trying to impress the herons that I fish alongside and need to keep things fresh for them.  They pay my frogs so much attention that I know they appreciate it when I show them a new color.  

 

 

I always think I buy too many lures and then I log onto this website and look at some of the pictures and I feel better about my addiction.
