Line Lay Problem

Featured Replies

I just got a new Daiwa Fuego LT 2500 and about half way done spooling I noticed the line bunching at the top so I re-spooled after adding a washer from the box and the line started bunching up towards the bottom. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am using 10 lb power pro braid.

Call diawa and find out if they have thinner washers. If they don't then ask them what to do.

I had the same reel bunch up with certain lines and spool up fine with others. Try taking it off and respooling it again.

Usually they include washers ( spacers ) in the box to fix issues with the line laying weird.

I got lucky I guess, mine spooled up fine. Hope you get it sorted out.

This might sound dumb but you did put backing on before the braid didn’t you?

whenever i had had issues with line lay, when i take it out on the water and cast the issue corrects itself.

its weird. both for spinning (line more towards spool lip) or baitcasting (line piles up on one side).

not sure why it corrects itself. more tension when retrieving??

Just had this on a Ballistic 2500. I noticed the line lay different after switching in a jerkbait vs casting a crank or spoon with a steady retrieve. Had new Fireline just put on. I believe tension was a factor. If it was a steady retrieve it looked fine if pauses or twitches were used for the jb it was all at one end.

All it takes is one loose coil on the spool to throw things off. Same for a poor knot from backing to mainline.
