You got my hopes up that there were 12lbers in Michigan.

Years ago the DNR shocked a lake in my neck of the woods and it’s reported that there was a new state record in it (12pounds), that’s the story I heard. I had a park ranger for that lake tell me he heard the same thing, and I believe @MIbassyaker heard the same thing, only it was the lake’s little brother he heard held the new record.

This was was over ten years ago so I’d assume that fish is long gone, but goes to show you they COULD be out there.

I fish a lot of southern MI and never could fathom catching a 10+ lber out of there. I would probably have a heart attack is I did.

I'm going to start my own rod company. Going to be called "Enema Rods". The tag line is going to be "For the Fisherman who is full of s..."

Promotional staff is free advertising for said vendor. Professional staff is when you get paid to fish.

The first I heard of it was from @12poundbass!  This sounds like an urban (rural?) legend to me. Like Campfire Stories of the Michigan DNR.

The question I have is where would this fish be reported? In what report would that fish be included? Surely, there ought to be a report somewhere indicating a fish matching that description was shocked up, no?

And so the mystery continues.

I was way way off and now you see how these things get going! Not intentional BTW!
