So I've been using 40pb powerpro on my baitcaster and sometimes mid cast it will stop suddenly and there will be a line in the spool over my line that caused it to stop during the cast it's really frustrating so if anyone could help I would appreciate it. 

I have the same issue at times, Thought it was the line. Maybe it is just me. Hopefully someone will have an answer.

Your line is digging in to the spool.  This usually happens for two reason, horsing out a nasty snag or winding the line on too tightly.  I keep a 5" section of wooden dowel with my tackle to get out of snags.  I wrap the line around it a few times and pull it loose.  

i have had trouble with this also.  a friend told me to use shallow lure and let the  line out behind boat and reel back in slowly then spray with line conditioner. works for me.

 i did notice that if cast out and line is loose before reeling in that this happens more

Could be either.  Though honestly I have never had 40# braid dig in.  As stated keep the line snugly spooled.  When I feel my line is getting loose on the spool, I hold the line between thumb and finger on a retrieve to snug it back up.  No need to change lures.

I've got 20#PP on my President, made sure it was snug when spooling it up, and don't have the dig-in issue with it.

 

Make sure the line is snug when spooling it up, re-tension it every so often to make sure it's snug on the reel. Also make sure to fix even the most minor of backlashes.

As others have said, be mindful of small over-runs. Slight loops with braid can cause your issue.

Also what others have said about the line digging in from snagging and pulling hard to get it out.

I use 30 PP braid on 5 different setups and it happened when I first started using it but happen very rarely now that I do these two things. I also use line conditioner after the line gets really broken in, and limp too. It helps.

I don’t think it’s “dig in” in the traditional sense, where your line diameter is small enough to wedge in between itself. 

 

I think you probably don’t have enough tension on the line when reeling it in, causing the line to lay super loose on your reel. This will allow it to dig in. 

 

Or, like others said, small over runs.

This, if I know I'm gonna really be slinging a bait I increase the brakes to compensate on the front end of the cast.
