My mother has a refrigerator magnet that says give a man a fish he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him all weekend.

I’ve also heard one that is something like “give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and there’s one more person fishing your spot”

I told the give a man a fish saying to a kid I had in class in my life as a teacher. He came back with this response. I always remembered it. Clever kid.
