Hi Guy's. 

 

How do you keep your rubber worms and trailers. Do you keep them in the original bag/packaging or do you put them in trays? I have been just leaving them in the bags but, I now have a ton of bags in my tackle bag. I was thinking about getting a tray just for the rubber baits and just put what I need and refill as needed.  Not sure if putting them into trays would effect the scent of the baits.

As a co angler It's just to cumbersome for me to carry a dozen bags around. 

I use horizontally separated Plano 3600 boxes. 

They keep them straight as I carry my bag around.

Original package or heavy zip lock bags.  At home they are in a three drawer rubbermaid cabinet and when going fishing I put what I want to fish in the KVD speedbags for easy transport.  When I get back they go back in the cabinet.

As a kayak guy, I also can't be carrying around all those bags.  I have them in two 3600 Plano boxes.  One is worms, one is craws and paddletails.  I only use three colors of worms and craws, four colors of paddletails.  When I get home I replenish the boxes as needed.

This is what I do, they're awesome as they fit directly under my seat of the yak.

I have mine in Plano 3600's each dedicated to a type plastic labeled (worms, craws, creatures, shad, etc.)and stacked on the end of my fishing bench  I take to the boat what ever is in season at the time (usually 8 boxes) in an old gym bag then tucked under an open front step I built to the casting deck.

take just a few bags of each to the lake with you and replenish as needed. just don’t forget the replenish part, like i do sometimes. nothing like running out of those Zoom greenies when the bass are wearing them out and you’ve got 15 bags sitting back at the house.

 

 

3 zip-lock bags... green pumpkin, junebug and pearl, baits are mixed by color.

 I don't own any rubber worms or know where to buy them or have a reason to store them.

I keep them in the original package but I use Rubbermaid storage containers to put them in. They are by style, brand or type. Generally in an opaque container and labeled. easy to stack in boat storage lockers, easy to find when labeled.

I've been using the Bass Mafia money bags, but I have to admit this setup has me intrigued. I've blown out the zipper on 3 of the Mafia bags that were only about 90% full, and I'm thinking this may be the ticket for something more durable. How many bags of plastics do carry in each speed bag?

Organized into 1 Gallon Ziploc Bags for each style of Plastic.....and then they go into a 1987 Detroit Tigers Canvas DuffleBag that says " Sweet Baseball" : ) The DuffleBag is roughly the height and width of a 1 Gallon Ziploc Bag, so it makes it easy when I have to rummage through. The setup is far from fancy, but it gets the job done !

I use bait binders. 2-3 usually holds what I’ll need for a weekend on the water, and stores easily on the kayak.

 

I don’t get too crazy with plastics, a few styles of craws, 1-2 sizes of paddle tails, etc. and maybe 3-4 different colors covers all my bases. I’ll throw another binder of extra bags of things I think I'll go through if it’s a tournament.

I saw this this Spring and again copied my friend.  I am far more organized this year and having these bags have allowed me to really balance my boat.

Depending on the size of the bags & the baits themselves, perhaps 15-25 bags of baits. 

(It's plenty for me)

I'm quite happy with them so far - although I can already see that my labeling job is starting to wear of a little.

I keep 5 speed bags per compartment  - 4 on the bottom and 1 on top of them. 

Top bag may be wearing the paint pen off the bags below it a bit.

 

I looked hard at the Money bags before picking the Speed Bags - 

Didn't go that way as these seem to fit what I was looking for storage wise. 

I was hoping to 'fill up' my compartment space to helps 'lock' everything in tight so there'd be nothing bouncing around as I zipped across open water. 

Plus at the time, Cabelas was having a blow out sale on the them . . . 

This is what they look like in the Pro-V Bass.

If the speed bags are a little pricey for you, a very similar tool bag can be had at Harbor Freight for slightly less - around $6 - often less if you've got a coupon.   They are made of canvas if that 's an issue.  I've got several of them.  You can fit 20 or so bags of bait into each bag and separate them by style.

I have used Cableas soft storage bags bought on sale and designed for 3600 size boxes with the top zipper and pouches on each end for decades when fishing out of someone else's boat. I take 2 bags with all the stuff needed for the outing. It's challenge to reduce 17 size 3700 boxes of soft plastics and 3 organizing bins filled with lures and terminal tackle in the boat, all labeled to 2 bags. If you are a kayak angler or back seating the bags are your friend.

When I shore fish it's reduced further to 1 rod/reel and a fanny pack of terminal tackle and soft plastics.

Either Plano 3601 thin boxes or Plano double sided 3500 boxes. Works well for my style. 

Ziploc freezer bag with original bags inside.

 

Inside that I have a smaller Ziploc for used/wet baits that are still good.

 

A second bag for shredded plastics I can use for trailers.

I fish primarily from a backpack. I use this bag in the yak, but when I get a boat I will probably do something different.

Ziploc freezer bags, quart size. The only difference between freezer and regular is the mil thickness of the plastic. I lay them flat, overlapping each other in my deeper tackle box. I've got to thumb through them but usually the most used ones reorder themselves this way and end up on the top.
