Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris CarbonLite 2.0 Baitcast Reel

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any experience with this reel?  Johnny Morris pledged to donate $100 for every Johnny Morris Signature Series rod or reel purchase helping Anglers for the Bahamas to raise $4 million and growing for hurricane relief.  If he is going to donate $100 of the $120 I spend on this reel to people in need, I can not help but be compelled to buy one if it is any good.

My Son bought one in 2003 or 4..anyway he still has it and use's every now and then. Still works just fine. And it hasn't had any maintenance cept for oiling the spool.

Sounds like a great cause. I have never used a bass pro reel over $40 but as far as I know bps reels aren’t great under 100 but after that price point I think they are good. That reel should be of high quality

I believe the signature series and carbon light are two different reels. The signature is more money.

The signature is $199

I have a carbon lite 2.0 8.1:1.  I use it for frogging and it works great.  Never had an issue with it.  I got it got $79.99 last Black Friday.

In reading the description, I think you are correct. I initially searched the website for “Johnny Morris Signature Series” and a page loaded with all the “Johnny Morris” named rod and reels.  Not reading carefully I assumed they were all Signature Series when in fact it is a specific spinning reel ($100) and baitcaster ($160).  The rods are listed for $150. It is still generous funding raising, but significantly more expensive.
