10 years later, a look back at what happened to TN football

Featured Replies

I think it started when they fired Fulmer. All these schools are too quick to fire really good coaches because they have a bad year. Fulmer won 10 games the year before he was fired, won the east, and only lost the SEC championship by 1 score to the national champion team. I really think he could have improved the if given the chance.

As a UGA fan I think the same about Richts firing. It worked out and Kirby is a great coach but with 130 FBS teams not everyone can be top ten every year. I'm sure if Kirby has a bad year or 2 he's gone too.

I concur with everything Crappie just said. That said, i respect that Kiffin acknowledges some mistakes in how he went out. It was almost literally a dumpster fire, and we've never really climbed out.

We're beating Florida this year!

All this in the article was right after they fired Fulmer. Kiffin was his replacement so it was all one big whirl wind. And now Fulmer is in charge of the athletic department so hopefully he will straighten things out soon

It all comes down to recruiting.  Fulmer was a top ten recruiter.  What kills me is for the last few years we have consistently been in the top twenty in recruiting but we're playing more like 75th.

As for UGA, Richt was a top notch person and coach but I think Kirby is as good as it gets.  UGA is going to be consistently in the hunt for the national championship as long as he's around.

as an alabama fan ... we've had a hell of a ride ... but i know ... the sun doesn't shine on the same dog's backside all the time ... we went a long time before we got another national championship since 1992 ...

tenn. made a big mistake getting rid of coach fulmer ... he lost some close tough games ... hindsight is easy ...

tennessee has deep pockets and an avid loyal fan base with a rich history ... they will get right it in time ...

roll tide ...
