G Loomis e6x vs fitzgerald

Featured Replies

Following as I might feed the bait monkey the E6x during Winter cold months

never fished the other brand but the 2018 model E6X's are very good, i have a 7'5 spinning model.

The first generation E6X (released 2015) were hit and miss depending on the particular model. Some were great, others not. I have the first generation MBR903C 7'6 Casting rod and I really like it, but its probably because of the MBR taper. Others have had other versions of their casting rods and not liked them.

I have never fished an e6X, but I do not think that the rod is competitive in that price point based on feel in hand, but the new models do feel lighter/better balance. In my opinion, the Megabass Levante is a vastly superior opion at that price point.

Don't. E6X is not worth the price. Tatulas and Sierra's are better for the money.

Ugh. Watch out for the E6x haters.

I remember when Shimano treid to introduce a G. Loomis entry level rod called E6X.

The workmanship was sub par at the price point, the E6X didn't go over with anglers.

Shimano came out with their Expride series rods and upgraded the Loomis E6X series called 2018. The Shimano Expride series has good angler exceptance, the 2018 E6X hasn't overcome it's initial introduction reputation and IMO will be discountinued.

Fitzgerald rods?

Tom

I have used and owned a handful of the newer 2018 model and have liked them but I now don't think they are worth full retail price. They do have good-descent sensitivity(depending on model) and they do balance well with a reel on them but there are rods that feel better to me in that price range like the Dobyns Champion and Zodias. I sold all of them except for the two MBR rods I had, witch are some of favorite rods to fish with.

The new e6x is a good rod, but at price point there are better options.

Same here. If I were to buy a rod in that price point the new levante is really nice.

Megabass Levante

These seem to be discontinued. They were deleted from the TW site.

Pretty sure it is just taking them longer to get back in stock. There was a huge recall because of a manufacturing defect.

Well, then I'm on the chase for a 6'7"-6'9" MH-XF spinning rod. I used a crucial but now they can't be found.

The e6x isn’t as bad as some people on here make it out to be. I fished them for a few years when they first came out (before they redid them) and caught my money’s worth of fish. They were comfortable to fish but could have used better components and better sensitivity.

That being said, I feel that there are better options at or slightly above the e6x price point. Check out the shimano zodias/expride, megabass Levante, alx ikos/zolo, Cashion rods, diawa tatula
