Rod recommendation

Featured Replies

Need a recommendation. Looking for something to sling baits from like 3/4oz to 1-7/8oz for smallies on rivers and creeks. I'm talking 5" stubby Triple Trout, 6" Triple Trout, Fish Lab 5" gills, Gan Craft OSA 115, etc. Nothing huge and if someone was interested, I'd trade my bigger swimbait rod (Temple Fork GTS 7'11" 1 to 6oz) for the right stick. I'd probably like a mod fast rod.

Everyone's going to ask - what price range are you looking to stay within?

Umm, well, ideally sub $150 range.

The Irod Jr is likely the way I'll be going. It realistically tops out about 2.5, maybe 3.

I have the Irod swimbait jr...Great rod, light, softer tip for tossing baits a mile, and a really good looking rod, imho..

So yeah, I vote the Irod, which is the 783sb.

When I was considering swimbaits, the two rods I was looking at were the Fury 795SB, and the Diawa DXSB. Even though I dropped the idea of swimbaits in my repertoire, I can say that the 795 would have been the one I picked.
