Tackle Manufacturers

Featured Replies

I'm curious if anyone knows of a site where you can find out about lure manufacturers and if they're still in business?

Some of the old ones got bought out i know, some went out of business, some ???? but there are so many new ones also that it's hard to find out if they're still in business. An example is G Funk Baits. They have a website but all their products are listed as "Sold Out". Tacklewharehouse carry's them and had a Feb ship date but that's now Mar, I tried sending an email but no response. Curious, but it got me to thinking about the overall industry and how to keep up with them. Any ideas on this topic would be appreciated especially since it's February and I'm housebound and needing something to do since my reels have all been cleaned

Thanks for reading

Hmm...

The internet is your friend. What is the issue? Type it in, look it up.

I have tried. I typed in G Funk Baits and G Rig. I tried all the links to them at all the sites that sell them including ebay all sold out and most don't have a "Will ship Date". If they had a phone # i'd try it but they don't and as I said they didn't answer my email.

They were featured on a very popular YouTube channel recently and that has probably increased their sales quite a bit and put them out of stock.

With Tackle Warehouse, if you backorder them they will ship when they get more as your place in line is reached. If you don't backorder, and wait for them to be in stock, you might be waiting for a long time since other people will keep backordering more and more and more until the manufacture is able to catch up if they can.

You know....sometimes guys just want to talk about fishing and things like that....maybe someone has a little more information than they can find online....it happens....I've seen a few moderators on this site that have said things like this when there are guys that just want to communicate with others because it's fun. But people need to be careful on answering things like this in this way.....kinds of turns some people off. It's like when someone has a question and they want different views,  they don't want to have to just read through a bunch of old threads that might not have the answer because it has changed. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info about  a YouTube feature. I'll check it out. I placed an order with Tackle warehouse back in early Jan. when the "Mfg ship date" was February, but then when it shifted to Mar 10 I got a little nervous. Probably like you said, they have a bigger backlog and are just swamped. My order still stands, so we'll see.

Thanks for commenting

Agreed. Its not his first time at this either. And as far as old threads, ive seen many old threads pop up. Leads me to believe they used the search option, like so many want us to do before making a new thread. People comment, then here come the post about bringing back something a few years old? So which are we suppose to do?

Back to the OPs question. Ive always gotten fair luck on flea bay for things you just cannot find at times.Good luck with the search sir.

I feel your pain, it is hard to keep current with tackle makers' current business status. Unfortunately,  most small bait/lure makers don't tend to be very technically advanced when it comes to a Web presence. Some current sites just have me yelling at my screen that "It's not 1995 anymore, come on! I don't want to call you to place an order, I just want to load up a Web cart and have my tackle show up at my door later that week. WHY DON'T YOU WANT MY MONEY!?".... ahem

One thing you can do is use the Wayback Machine which archives the Internet, so you could go look at those Web site as they were six months ago, a year, etc. Sometimes the BBB will list a business as closed and if you can get an address, contact the local Chamber of Commerce to see if they are still active in the area.

Wayback Machine is an interesting "tool". It diddn't help with G Funk but i've bookmarked it to use when I chase some other MFG.

Thanks for info

Like most things, it isn't a silver bullet but one more tool in the bag. Good luck!
