500 lb marlin - on a kayak!

The marlin dragged him around for about 15 miles and he finally had to switch to another boat so he could land it without tiring it to death. I guess when you catch one that big on a kayak you try to lock down your reel and hold on for as long as you can.

Wow.  If that was me I'd have needed to change my britches once or twice.

If it was me, I would have used a bigger boat ! I latched into something huge in the salt in a kayak once that started taking me out.  I tightened the drag and let it break me off on purpose. I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to the ocean in a small boat. I caught a few sting Ray's and freaked out pretty bad

The whole time watching this I kept thinking What if he had hooked a big shark? There is no way I'm getting out on the ocean in a kayak.

Seems like that only works if you are set up for it like those guys were.  Once something that big was on my line, I'd cut the line and paddle back to shore like a little girl. :)

You can have four days of fishing with those guys for about 3k.  I plan to do so the year after next.
