I have a few of the BBZ Shad baits, they do catch fish.

I just ordered two of baby bull shads today, can't wait to get them.  Still have some time till I can fish them ( darn you winter), but at least I can hold them!!!?

Anyone know a store that has them in stock. Mass/NH, I’m old fashioned and like to go to the store and buy things.

I like the colors on these better than the baby bull shads. I would try a spro before a baby bull shad for that fact alone. Thay and the size and shape are almost the same so with colors I like better with the spro, I think I will try one soon! 

@Derek1: The DSG in Pittsfield, MA had a fairly large selection of the Baby Bull Shad but they do seem to be selling quickly.  I picked up three different patterns then grabbed a second in golden shiner just because the snot rockets here in western MA are brutal on that pattern.

Im not to far from Western Mass being over by Albany NY, and will say I have lost tails on more soft swim baits than I can count to those darn snot rockets. Haven’t had one hit a baby bullshad yet though. I may have to pick up that golden shiner color, and give them hell. 

A 5 inch bull shad is a great bait for a beginner wanting to get into serious swimbaiting. It just gets bit. Can be had for only $50. Tried and true. It is without a doubt my 2nd best producing hard swimbait. It's expensive in terms of bass baits, but it's a very affordable swimbait. Heck, my favorite hard swimbait is a KGB ChadShad and its ONLY $110. That's still on the low end in my eyes. Try getting yourself a Pizz or a Pat's. Now you're talking real money, and people aren't usually willing to sell them.

It still amazes me how much swimbaits are. I understand if it's someone that hand makes them like Marling Baits, but a mass produced one I couldn't understand a super high price.

I don't know of any that are mass produced that carry a super high price tag.

 

You're paying for that person's time, their failures, all the hours they've spent tinkering and tuning, just to have it not work over and over again. Once they finally get it right, sometimes after years of trying, the end result can be a very special and unique product that does what nothing else does.

 

 

^^^^This. Go on the tackle making forum, ask those guys how much time, and money they invested just making a really nice crank bait, or any hard bait for that matter. A lot goes into producing a nice swimbait. And usually in the long run, you get what you pay for. I know where your coming from, the first 150.00 hard swimbait I bought years ago had me gasping at first, but then I realized what goes into making them, and the cost then didn't seem so bad.

You can try mgc in Hanover MA.   Ive heard they have a big selection.
