Does anyone know how much a new foot would cost for this Shimano Stradic?

The foot on a spinning reel is an integral part of the frame - so you'd need to replace the whole frame. A quick search and I can't find anywhere that sells just the frame. Might want to toss an E-Mail to Shimano and see what they have available.

Same as the price of a new Stradic in my opinion. Not sure any repair would be able to hold up. See if you can get the whole reel replaced by Shimano.

Gorilla Super Glue?

If that's an FL (the last white Stradic) the part's available from Shimano. 877-577-0600. Guessing it's a 2500 or 3000. Part would be RD 20037. Talk to a rep and he'll make sure if that's right.  Parts are discontinued on older versions. E- Replacement Parts online is also a good source.

It a 4000FJ. Thanks for the info. I will give Shimano a call Monday.

Here is the parts list from Shimano.  I would venture it's going to be about $57 for the side frame, the rear protector and the body.  If you have someone put the parts on, again just a guess, it would be a complete breakdown.  That on a Sustain I had cost about $50>10+ years ago. 

 

If it was me, I would replace it.

Why would Shimano replace it ? It's obviously abuse.

Don't know what I was thinking. FL is the new metal Stradic. Shimano's site doesn't show schematics for FJ anymore. ereplacement parts might be your best choice. Good luck.

 

Edit: I guess they do still have it. Didn't see FJ's mixed in with FK schematics. Eyes are getting old.

If you still have the foot, I'd be wondering about JB Weld and just fixing it yourself.  Don't know exactly how old that reel is BUT, I don't know if I'd be putting north of $50 in to fixing an old reel.  However, once you throw the phrase "sentimental value" into the mix, cost don't matter as much.

JB Weld, Super Glue, Gorilla Glue...any of those might make it look fixed, but I wouldn't trust it on a rod. Fix it that way if you want to keep it on a shelf for sentimental value, but if you want to use it - new frame or just replace it.

I don’t have the foot. Seems like there would be a ton of stress in that area for a “welded” joint. 

I like JB WELD but this would be a tall order for it or other similar glues or epoxies. Maybe that as seen on tv thing that gets cured by light, lol.

I was wondering if someone would ask. I sat on it ?. I bent the handle of a Calcutta as well but I managed to straighten that out ??

if you have to take the internals out to fix It is not really all that hard to do.  There are a lot of you tube videos out there especially for Stradics.  Just lay everything out in order that it came out, 

Oh also go to mikes reel repair or where ever and down load a schematic.  You probably know this but, if you don’t. flip your reel seat over on the reel and it will tell you the exact model of your Stradic. Use that combination of letters and numbers to find your schematic. 
 

I have all of my schematics that either came with my reels or the ones I’ve downloaded laminated, 3 holes punched,  and put in a binder for later use. When working on stuff I prefer to have hard copy of the schematics to go on.  With them being laminated you will always have them. 

 

JB Weld will work drill tiny hole about 1/4 " deep on both sides pack it down inside then build up around the break ..make sure u mix it really well after that let it sit a few days ..then get out the dremel and grind it down to same size or if u feel artistic put finger mark in stem let it dry that way then smooth it down

So, whether JB would work or not is a moot point - he doesn't have the needed part to mate back up.

FYI Just saw this on a you tube ad. had to watch. Ever been to the dentist and he stuck that light in your mouth? Well one day a dentist broke his glasses. That light is a UV light and the stuff he puts in your mouth is a liquid plastic and can only harden via UV light. Well this guy fixed his glasses ( hardens in 4 seconds) with the dental instrument and realized the multitude of applications. This would probably fix your reel.
