I've got some of both but mostly use the #2. I actually have some #6 that I'm going to modify my mold to try to get to work also.

*I've had good luck with #4 size hooks in a Mushroom style Ned jig head .

Warms my heart to see people quitting on it, or fishing it incorrectly and assuming it's ineffective. Still works great, doesn't need all the tweaking with the bigger hooks, stouter hooks, heavier hea

  • The Ned Rig for me is like any other presentation - situation specific. Often thought of as attracting bites from smaller fish, and there may be some truth to that, it's not always the case.

Well I thought I had #6 but they were actually #4s. I just got a new 6 1/16oz cavity mold and turned out I didn't have to modify it at all, tight squeeze, but it worked. #4 next to my regular size Ned hook.

I use the tails off of Senkos, on a 1/16oz mushroom head and have good success with that set up.

I usually fish it when I come behind other fisherman, who I watched hit an are pretty good. Fishy spots get hit hard and the NedRig is something a lot of guys don't want to mess with. I might spend 30 minutes tossing into 1500sqft of water...changes colors and vary retrieves, until fish hit or I am convinced the Bass Gods hate me.
