I own the Lew’s Custom Lite Speed Stick in a 7’0 medium power fast action. This is my squarebill rod. I throw only a 1.5 up to a 3.0 at MAX. I’ve been surfing the web and it seems like people use a medium heavy power moderate-fast action rod for squarebills. Should I change? My thought process for why I throw squarebills on this rod is because I don’t throw big magnum crankbaits on this rod, but mainly smaller squarebills. Mainly 1.5’s and 2.5’s

Should work fine as long as it feels right

I personally throw a medium heavy /moderate.. But if it works for you then its all good.

If you feel you need another square bill rod, if only for comparison purposes, don't let the voice of reason or economics stop you.  Indulge your addictions.    Go ahead and get another square bill rod.   Be mindful that you're going to need another reel to go with it, again if only for comparison purposes.  Sooner or later you're going to buy a bunch of magnum cranks, so be prepared and get a rod for those as well, again knowing that at some point you will need a reel for that rod as well.

I have a medium fast and MH/mod/F that I use both for different cranks and other things. The medium is great for smaller cranks and the MH feels better for bigger cranks and deepish diving cranks. I prefer my MH for divers past 7-9 feet. 

You should probably be okay, but with Fast action rods I use fluorocarbon or co-poly as they are a little more forgiving.  Braid on a fast action might tear hooks out a little easier...

I don't think there's one right type of rod for many applications. I throw my Squarebills on two rods a 7ft medhvy moderate fast and a 7ft med moderate. Most people say the medium is too light but I like it. I also throw swim jigs on a med fast...most people won't go under a med hvy but it works for me. Guess I'm saying if you like it then you roll with it. Dance with the one who brung ya! Don't buy into the whole this is the only type of rod for this crap. Unless you want a squarebill specific rod..then by all means get one.

I guess it depends. Do you spend more time fishing or reading about fishing? I have come to the conclusion that more people sit on the computer and talk about fishing and what will or will not work as opposed to actually getting out on the water and trying things for themselves.

If what you are using works, don't change up because people on the internet are doing something else.

 

Personally I prefer a treble hook rod to have quite a bit of give.  For 1.5 and the like, a medium power rated rod is usually the ticket.  

Squarebills work on a lot of rods. Lure weight, line type, cover, how you like to fight fish, what you had for lunch, etc are all variables in the equation. If what you have works, don't change.

 

I like a moderate rod with fluoro or copoly in more open water and something stouter with braid if I am trying to rip grass or need to get fish out of junk in a jiffy. As long as you're able to keep pressure on the fish without your rod unloading you'll be aight.

Your rod seems optimal for squarebills just probably not good for squarebills bigger  than a 2.5 can be done but probably not the best choice.
