Of all the cars I've had over the last 50+ years, my old 1966 Chevelle SS,  with a built 396 rat motor. Power was fairly good that I could easily break the rear tires loose in all 4 gears, even at low speeds. Would have loved to have that motor in a 65, or 66 Nova..Good times back then.

 

Current is my 2003 Chevy Duramax 6.6 diesel..with some mods..hehe..Even so, 600 hp doesn't move my truck at 7000 lbs all that great..

Worked out of a couple of Dodge Aspen s/wagons in the 70's and 80's. 225 slant 6 was bulletproof, the cars not so much. They were very attractive to road termites.

Yes. I almost forgot that one. My wife had a 72 Plymouth Duster with a slant 6cyl. Good engine

Ya, family had a 67 Barracuda Fastback with the 225 - couldn't kill that engine.

Really liked the 5.7 hemi in the 1500 I drove for 10+ years, but now that I've had a 6.7 Cummins for a few years I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to gas again. Couldn't be happier.

I'd like to supercharge or turbo one and put that to the test. There's a Dodge short bed pickup manual transmission in my neighborhood with a slant six that's begging for the ratty sport truck treatment. I was interested in it for a project until the owner told me it was a 6 cyl.

 

Fav: My '08 Silverado 5.3l has been the best engine I've owned. Completely trouble free for 12 years. I work from home now and it only has 114K miles. I'll likely keep it another decade.

 

Runner up: 1981 Toyota Starlet 1.3l. It averaged over 40 MPG when I was driving it 40 miles each way to college. It was a hand me down from my sister with a lot of miles but it kept plugging along until I wrecked it. A mechanic told me it didn't make enough compression to wear itself out. LOL

 

Worst: 1978 Chevy 305 2 bbl in a Camaro. It was worn out at 80K miles and so weak I got outrun by 4 cyl Mazda truck. I'd still like to have the car back now that I could afford to wrench on it..

The best car I ever had was a 1984 Buick Electra with the 307 v8. The car was totaled over 500k on the odometer and it didn't burn a drop of oil. The 3.8L in the Buicks was also a rock solid engine, and the later version I had on a 2000 Lesabre actually got me 40mpg driving home from Baltimore -- although the highway mileage is closer to 30 up here because of all the hills.

I have a lot of dream cars and engine I drool over but my favorite by far was the inline 6 Ford 300. It was a torquey brute that took a beating and asked for more. The engine outlasted the body and frame of my old f150.
