I am looking for a crankbait, currently in production, that can fulfill the requirements I am looking for. The first criteria seems to be the hardest to meet. 

 

* Very wide wobble, with a side-to-side rolling type of motion

 

* 3/8-3/4oz, 3"-5" length

 

* Can be steadily retrieved incredibly slowly, staying in the very top of the water column, 0-4FOW

 

* Shad-shape profile 

 

* Silent, no rattles

 

Can anyone have provide any suggestions?

 

 

   I was thinking of the Helin Flatfish until you got me with the shad-shaped profile. Are you SURE you need that shad-shaped profile?     ???     jj

Very interesting, I have only ever thought of them as trout lures but I now see they make them in a wide variety of sizes. I am definitely going to consider this option, as I'm sure that underwater, the flash they emit might somewhat look like an unsuspecting baitfish...

I'd suggest Bombers Long A. They have a great slow wobble. Many colors to choose from. They are known fish catchers. Deep divers are available to be used slowly to achieve wobble yet hit 4-5'. They can be waked. They can be jerked or simply cranked. They can be twitched on the surface. The older screwtail models can still be had under $10 a pop on the auction site. Just my .02...

Can't remember if it rattles or not, but sounds a lot like a 6th Sense Movement 80X in all other listed criteria.

Duel makes a crankbait similar to what you are looking for. I found a few on clearance at Dicks for $7.99 & I  think some were at walmart...They make one that is essentially a wake bait in a shad profile like the older Yo-zuri SS minnow crankbaits for saltwater. Looks like the River 2 sea movement shape someone mentioned. 

 

I don't know the name of the model, but Duel/Yo-zuri have some baits that match what you are looking for, I guess it depends how you define "Wide".

 

As someone mentioned, you can fish the smaller Bomber #13 Long A and #14 long a like a crankbait, any jointed version will give you a wide rolling action on a slow retrieve. The Rebel Jointed Minnow and Jointed Rapala minnows make great shallow crankbaits with a thin profile. You can Fish them like a crankbait, floating minnow baits like the Yo-zuri Crystal minnow have wide actions with the arched back as well.

The luckycraft BDS 3 would be a good fit...Silent, w/a more rounded bill they have more roll than a squarebill (but similar).. they  also have a more shad shaped body than say a LC or Rick Clunn. Im not certain, but they may not be made for the US market anymore...There are TONS on ebay, and online however....Ive bought a 1/2 dozen in the last yr or so.

6th sense movement 80x don’t remember if it rattles though? I think it does
