Back when pork chunks were available I almost always had black jig brown chunk or vice versa . When I started using plastic trailers more frequently  a black and blue salt craw on a black jig  for stained to clear water and a black and chartreuse salt craw on black jig  for stained to muddy did the trick.I didnt know black and blue was a popular option  for muddy water until joining this form .

I think they just provide a good contrast in the water...plus, there are a lot of dark colored critters down there. Or who knows, maybe that color scheme just sets off something in certain bass...like when I drive past a Taco Bell. 

 

Black and blue variations (black, blue and purple is my favorite), bluegill and straight pumpkin are all I throw. I’ve never needed to branch out. 

I throw brown and green pumpkin in clear water, I throw green pumpkin and black and blue in stained water, and I throw black and blue in chocolate milk.

 

All three get ate up for me.

For some reason, black and blue jigs seem to work.

 

Black and blue laminate Senkos also can be a fantastic presentation.

 

Why? Who knows. Maybe they look like crabs or bluegills or molting crawfish.

 

All I know is that is a great color selection that can give you the confidence to throw black and blue colored baits after you start catching them on that color.

Well, it's certainly popular among anglers, does that mean it's also popular among bass
