Megabass vision 110 hooks

Featured Replies

Is Megabass putting new hooks on? I never had issues with their hooks. I had two brand new 110s plus 2 today. I probably landed 50 bass. I probably lost 25 on the plus 2. I also tried a rogue and an osp rudra. I did not drop a single fish on those.

I replaced the megabass stock hooks tonight with some ones that were on a yozuri crystal minnow. We will see tomorrow how that works out.

Their hooks are and always have been garbage in my opinion.  Besides being those odd katsuage outbarbs they don't seem very strong.

Great hooks, TW carries them . I would replace them with the same Katsauge.

If you've got 75 fish to bite I wouldn't be too upset.

Especially on a jerkbait this time of year.

So you think the replacement hooks of the same kind are better than the stock hooks?

I only dropped one fish on the mega bass with the replacement hooks today that I use from the Yozuri lure. The other mega bass kept dropping fish. My only issue is the hooks that I put on made it sink slowly. Any idea of hooks that are good that won’t cause it to sink slowly?

I always replace them with the same hooks. They can be a touch brittle but I like them.

I've heard the death traps are a good replacement but I've never tried them.

This makes them garbage.  Sorry.

Owner ST-36's might be light enough to make em not sink slowly?

I love the megabass vision 110. It just amazes me that an Academy H2O jerkbait for a little over $6.00 has better hooks.

So do Rogues for $6!

Well, which bait would you rather fish ? If your happy with the Rogue look at all the money you can save !

If you want the 110 to work as MB intended stick with the Katsauge.

Personally, Ill take the action of 110 and change a hook every once in a while. Remember they were designed to be fished on 6 or 8 lb. line in Japan, hence the light wire.

Sorry I forgot to add these lures were brand new and dropping fish left and right. So I don’t see how replacing hooks with the same hooks could have helped. Is it possible the longer bill could have caused this?

No. It aint the hook. But if you want to try a good stickbait with a different hook go buy a couple Mc Sticks , they look like Gammy round bends .

I do a fair amount of jerkbait fishing, with some success.

Mostly on brown bass.

Good portion of it comes on Megabass 110's.

For what I do & the fish I'm targeting, I do not like the stock treble

and change each & everyone tight out of the package.

They are replaced with either #4 Mustad KVD short shanks or Gamagatsu EWG Magic Eye.

Finally, Berkley recently came out with the Fusion19 Md. Shank EWG Treble Hook Black & Red.

Haven't tried these yet but I intend to.

Looks like a quality option and being offered in the 'odd' sizes of #3 and #5 is appealing.

Just goes to show...If there's one hook I detest it's the KVD..different strokes.

I've caught a couple on a stickbait too.

Not certain how many big brown bass there are in Japan but

using 6lb line is not an effective option for that presentation here.

At least not for me.

I'm sure your correct

I'm not ready to step to the price point of a Vision 110, but I'm happy to report that those H2O jerkbaits will flat out catch some fish for me.

The hooks are alright. I don't rush to change them, but I much prefer a gammy short shank EWG.

Sounds like me

Its been repeated on here many many times. The hooks are far from garbage.  They're just not intended to be used with the gear we all fish them on. They're light wire and sticky sharp but they're meant for light line and light drag. I replace mine as well with either owner st36 or I've been trying a vmc id have to look at the model. The owners are great but on the regular vision 110 do make it sink.  Ive broken a cple of the vision baits this year but im convinced there is no equal in the jerkbait market so I continue to use em. Its a pay to play deal with em for sure and I always tell people if you're not ready to drop some $ don't buy the first one. Several of my buddies made the mistake of going with me this past spring and now they all own a few

I use Daichii death trebles and they will bend out before breaking.  I have a post where I was weighing hooks and they are the same weight.  The katsuage hooks are garbage - Plain and simple

Plain and simple... wrong, But maybe it's different up north.

I replaced a few with G-Finesse Gamakatsus and they are super sharp but I have had trouble nailing them with this hook for whatever reason.  Also, I had two break today on fish>this is a first for me on treble hooks.  I may go back to the originals.thumbnail-15.thumb.jpeg.88e561e97625ca71534ea98207530c6f.jpeg
