Suggs is on the south end of the ship canal. Lucas, if the aerial shots are legit, is on the north end of the ship canal.

On the bay side or the Lake Michigan side?

  • Who said bass fishing wasn’t exciting. Ike being a part of it just made even more intense. Love him or not he’s great for tv

  • 41-80 gets $3k instead of $0. I’d guess they had a vote to share the payout 1-80 instead of 1-40 due to the unique year where tournaments were cancelled. Just a guess

  • Looks like the brown bass are active and chewing in the rain on this first morning of competition. And it's always entertaining to watch guys hand landing big brown bass in this warmer water cond

What happened with Wheeler?

I saw him riding in a truck while other guys were fishing.

Wheeler must be headed to the Evinrude support trailer!  Happy to see JLucas wacking em.  That man is due!

Anglers are allowed to trailer anywhere during this derby.

KVD made a re-location move during period one.

It's a weather safety thing but guys can also use it to find new fish.

The south end is the lake side and the north end the bay side. The canal is kind of L shaped. Dont remember who is fishing by the ship builder, but that is wher the canal bends.

If you go on Google maps,  and zoom in on the south end of the canal  there is a landmark called John Bonetti Rock. Thats where Suggs is at. On the north side, Lucas is in between Pinney County Park and Cabot point.

This looks more like the final tournament totals vs after just 5 hours of fishing !

And as a friendly reminder to us all,

Brown Bass eat a drop shot - HARD

I haven't seen a 1875 pro v bass or a 2010 predator cruise past in the background mooning the contestants. I feel cheated.

Oh yes that makes sense. I’ve only fished the side with the ship company. I was on the Lake Michigan side sight seeing but not to fish. The weights are insane!

I'd love to be up there but this is my busy season. Probably won't get up there again until September

KVD might actually get a few in the boat LOL. Crazy how he and Klein, both legends of the sport, did so poorly.

The past few years most of the older guys have been slipping. Sadly the greats all run out of steam at some point. I feel that the year kvd didn't make it to the classic a few years back is when he started steadily declining on tournament performance, it does something mentally to a man that has made it there so many times

?  Ike landing that fish.  That is what I look like  landing most smallmouth except I use a net.  Still takes me 4 or 5 tries.  Anyone who has never fished smallmouth needs to do it at least once.  The fight at the boat and some of the jumps are incredible.  I don't fish trophy water so can't even imagine what a 6 pounder would be like. Although, I have watched A-Jay catch a few. ?

Yeah, I turned it on for the last few minutes and after about 30 seconds had enough of that nonsense. Hope they get that fixed for the future.

I missed today's live stream. I was fishing...well, actually went for a 6 hour boat ride in 85* water.

Know what that's like my friend.

I'll be doing that all next week - and the week after and the week after that.

Aside from a few blow ups on frogs, and some panfish chasing wacky worms, nothing at all. First skunk of the year.

Same here. I kept watching, but it was driving me crazy. To be fair that’s a short drive.

Admittedly I'm not his biggest fan but

How about the Day Two David Dudley's having -

Holy Smokes- Talk about a turn around.

9 pounds on day 1 - 90 lbs on day 2

Every time I look at the results of a professional tournament I always check the top and the bottom results.  The top shows me what’s possible.  The bottom makes me feel better about some of my outings.   This tournament has been particularly interesting in that regard.
