I was asking why this reel should have us exited. It wasn't presented the way most new reels (or trucks, or boats or etc) are. Usually somebody posts and says something like, " Ajax is coming out with a new reel, I've heard this and that, does anybody have more details, I wonder if it's going to take the place of the old model...yada,yada,yada".

 

This one was presented with all the level of drama normally reserved for announcing the Homecoming Queen on Prom night.

The reels turn into something people have good feelings about after using them and catching fish with them, then they are cool names. Vanford sounds like some aristocratic jerkoff family. The Vanfords of Scottingbush have arrived.

Because Shimano Stradic ci4 is one of the popular reel. A lot of ppl have it or want to have one. These are big group and a majority of market group compare to those high end or budget stuffs. 
you won’t here majority of ppl going crazy over new Stella nor Sedona.

WHY do people want it? WHY has Shimano come out with it. What does it do that the Stradic doesn't?

 

If it's just another iteration of the same old same old released to coax the excitable into buying it (like the multitudinous models of Tatula), that is cool too I guess..I just wouldn't figure grown men would get so excited if there wasn't something special about it.

This site has a crazy amount of pages full of people arguing over knots, which line is better, and which rod is more sensitive than another. Why not have a little fun? Bass fishing isn’t that serious is it?

Except if you've ever owned a Shimano reel it has different metal flake colors that sparkle in the sun.  And Vanford is fun to say. People will know you've made it in life when you tell them the name.

My Ci4 yes, it “sparkles” in the sun. Actually no, it just looks silver until you look close and see the red flakes. My wifes Vanquish and Stella..theres no metal flakes in it.

I wonder if shimano is going to come out with any JDM iterations of this reel?

With the stradic ci4+, in Japan they had the Cardiff ci4+, Soare ci4+, older model rarenium ci4+. Maybe a few other models it can't think of.

Just curious what the Japanese might release in their country.

I have four ci4+’s and I really like them. I had two and bought two more when Bass Pro had them for 80 dollars off. This looks very similar but with a long cast spool or whatever they call it. I can already cast a mile with 10 and 15 lb braid. I won’t upgrade but I’m sure it will be a great reel. I love the light weight for slinging artificial lutes all day mostly fishing inshore. If you aren’t casting a ton it is tough to beat the Daiwa BG series but they are a little heavy. 

When your Birthday falls on the same year as icast every year. You just tell the wife what you want. I have no need for anything else so why not. She just ordered me the new Vanford 2500 and a nice 7 ft mf Expride. It will go to good use?

To prove your point this is the reel I got with an Ugly Stick GX2 to keep in my truck during the summer. Rod was used not the reel. Materials are obviously inferior but the look isn’t all that different. 
 

 

Did Shimano copy and paste the look of the Ballistic LT?

Yes preorder. Every site seems to have them up. I got the 2500 size.
