I have a slight grasp on skipping so far with my Fuego CTs and Tatula 100s, but need a more sensitive and lighter rod for my worming and jigging.  I'm also hoping the setup will enable me to skip longer and more accurately.

 

I'm fishing from a kayak and standing is often possible, but I can skip from a seated position as well.  I'm 6', and I'm probably 3-5" away from the surface of the water when I skip.  I would prefer to use braid to leader on the reel.  I'll be trying on Texas Rigs with at least a ¼, 3/0, and plastic as well as jigs between ⅜-½ with a trailer. I hope this information helps guide you guys to help me make a good selection.

 

So, the reel is going to be a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS103 8:1.

 

I've narrowed my rod choices down to these options.

 

Daiwa Tatula Bass 6'10" MHF ¼-1oz

Daiwa Tatula XT 7' MHF ¼-1oz

13 Omen Black 3 7'1" HF ⅜-1oz

 

If you guys have any other suggestions from the 13 or Daiwa rod lineups under 150 bones, I'm all ears.

I don’t have other suggestions from those manufacturers, the ones you listed would probably work just fine.  
 

For light skipping, the only other rod in your price range I can suggest is a Phenix Feather.  I have The 7’1” in both the MLF and MHXF.  They are paired with Daiwa SV reels (Alphas) and skip lures well... the MLF I use for weightless wacky and 1/8 jig/Biwaa Craw and MHXF 1/8 oz Neko up to 1/2 oz jig/trailer. 

Thanks, @FryDog62.  I ended up tossing a bit of a joke offer on a Daiwa Tatula Elite 6'9" Heavy Fast "Skippin' Jig" and it ended up being accepted.  I hope I haven't pigeonholed myself out of a sensitive Texas rig rod by making my silly offer.

I can’t pinpoint a brand and don’t have experience with the Daiwa rods but I do best with rods in the 6-6 to 6-10 range. Abu, st. Croix, fenwick , Kistler all work for me in mh-f. They all feel equally sensitive idk. But that length is my juice for skipping. I’m sure you will like the one you bought.

I use a Dobyns Rod Champion XP DC610 4C. This rod is designed for skipping. T/W has them in stock.

I have the Tatula 6’10” MHF and Tatula SV TW 103, 7.3:1 that I use for baitcast skipping.

I do.  It feels great in hand with the Tatula SV and I've been sending some ½ ounce jigs and frogs a long way under overhanging cover.  The rod has an excellent tip for making these baits imitate a smooth river rock and excellent backbone for getting fish out of what they're in.

 

I would recommend it.

 

I think I'm going to look into a different stick for worms and casting jigs, though.  I'm sure the stick can do it, I'm just having too much fun using it for frogs and skipping a jig with it.
