So while unhooking a fish Wading I almost always put the rod under my armpit while I take off the fish. How can I get the smell of deodorant off my rod lol does it matter if it’s on the rod?

No, it doesn’t matter unless you’re using an acetone based deodorant. 
 

But if you’re unusually smelly, a little soap and water is all you need.

What can acetone do to a rod?

It won’t affect anything, your rod will just smell better now

No intention of finding out. 
But I assume it could eat away the finish, weaken the epoxy around the guides etc.

* I don't think I can EVER remember sniffing my rod(s). If you go looking for trouble, you'll eventually find it.

 

 I think I would take a handful of water and rinse the part of the rod that I had in my armpit after each fish I caught

Leave it on the rod for future use. You may forget to put on deodorant one day.

I tried soap and water, smell is still there. Guess my rod will just smell good now lol
