My vote: LC Sammy...But I would say a Super Spook jr. is very close

I am in the Spook camp (great lures), but have had no experience with the others.

i dont have a walking style but i use a pop-r  for  walking the dog

Aw, you left the best one out. The Excailber Super Spook Jr.

Its cheap, got great detail, and is amazingly easy to walk the dog with. With a hook upgrade, it is probaly the best spook out there.

Yeah, that's why I said simply 'spook.' That term basically encompasses all Heddon or Excalibur spooks.

"spook" doesn't really tell you anything.  There are too many baits out there with spook in the name.

The super spook jr. is my favorite.  I have Sammy's, yo zuri's, zara spooks, and even a megabass.  My ssJR>out fishes em all.

I've been a big Zara Spook man for years.  Over the last year or so, I've started to try out other walk the dog lures, because I've had great success with the Spook.  I guess I've kind of been stuck in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" groove.  

Hate to change the topic, but I never tryed the spook type lures. I always thought they were for SM bass, not LM bass. Are they also a good lure for LM bass? They seem kinda big though, will the smaller bass hit them? Theres not many huge bass in the lakes I fish in NJ, and there aren't any SM bass what so ever.

I caught my first nice bass on Bull Shoals on this one.

Zara Super Spook, in clear or bone color.

I like the Super Spook jr baits, they catch both largemouth and smallmouth bass very well for me.The bass pro shop slim dog is a super bait for the money.It flat out catches alot of fish,but the finish doesn't hold up very well on them.The biggest topwater bass, I have ever caught came on a little owner cultiva zip n ziggy lure.As far as I know they are discontinued , but they are one of the easiest walk the dog lures to use.The spittin image has been a great smallmouth bass bait for me, but the front hook likes to catch on the line alot fouling the baits action. I quit using them for that reason. One thing to remember, the smaller the split ring you can put on your topwater baits, the better, too big a split ring will bind up against the split ring eyes that are molded into  the bait. A smaller split ring gives the hooks a wider radius of movement and the baits seem to work easier for me.I also put a lucky craft split ring for the line tie.   Ivan

Sammy is awesome  I also bought a couple of the SPRO walking baits and they are very nice too.

Lucky Craft Sammy 100 series, this is the Lucky Craft bait that made me really like their stuff. I was a hardcore Heddon Torpedo and Zara Spook user but after using the Sammy I dont use my Spooks as much anymore. The Torpedos I still use, and the bigger ones you can walk the dog with.

My favorite dog to walk is my Rottweiler named Jax.  lol

My favorite lure to walk is the 5" Yamamoto Senko. I am

serious, you cast the Senko and work it just like you would

a Sammy or a Spook. The bait will slowly sink on the pause.

After you practice enough, you can actually get the Senko to

pop out of the water a few inches as if it were a baitfish. The

Yamamoto Senko is a very deadly topwater bait.

I fish Senkos on PowerPro line because it doesn't stretch

and any movement you make with your rod is transferred

straight to the bait. With a lot of lines, your movements are

absorbed by the line it self.

Yes, the walking the dog lures are great for largemouth bass.

I share avid's sentiment on this one, I own several LC Sammies, etc, etc but my favorite walker was and still is

the Heddon Super Spook Jr.

Very recently though I've discovered another topwater walker that I believe may "finally" usurp the super spook jr.

My intent is to report fully on this lure (soft plastic & weedless), but first I want to pit it against the other walkers

during Florida's topwater bite in April and May (I can't wait).
