Jerkbait Rod

Featured Replies

I use spinning rod for most of my jerkbait fishing. If you could have any Loomis rod for this what would you choose at any price rod. I fish mostly 78 Pointers, 97 Slender Pointers, and 7/16 X Raps. Or another brand other than Loomis.

Thanks

I had the St. Croix Legend Elite 6'8" MXF spinning rod blank built into a bait caster for jerk baits.

I haven't used a spinning rod for jerkbaits before, just doesn't seem right to the way I fish but I use the Loomis 783C GLX casting.  I don't see why the same rod in a spinning set up wouldn't work> 783S SJR GLX

I like using medium action rods for jerkbait fishing.

I have a 6'6" mh rod that fishes more like a medium.

Are u only wanting a spinning rod? If not I recommend the shimano expride 6’10 m or the megabass jerkbait special.

I’m 6’4 so I generally am comfortable with longer rods. I use a 7’1 MF bait cast.

Thanks for the replys and I use baitcast some but injury keeps me from using for long periods using my left arm with baitcast, so spinning works better for me right handed.

Loomis makes the JBR in spinning, too. It's an 812, so a 6'9 2-power (medium). I've been looking at it but the weight range seems too narrow, they're rated from 1/4 to 3/8 only.

I've just ordered a 6'10M Zodias for jerkbaits and smaller topwaters. That 1/4 to 3/4oz range seems like the sweetspot for this stuff.

They make a Zodias 6'9 medium in spinning, too. Also, have you tried left hand retrieve casting reels instead?
