Zodias Finesse Setup

Featured Replies

I have the 3000 Vanford, trying to pair to the right Zodias Spinning rod. I’m trying to decide between the 7M or 7MH. I have read that these rods run stiffer than others, is that true?

I’d be using it for T-Rigs and other soft plastics 80% of the time because that’s what we fish with most in my area. But I’d also like the versatility to throw small/ shallow cranks, top water.

I fish a lot of different types of lakes, but most consist of weeds and heavy cover.

I guess I’m leaning towards MH because I can throw more types of lures and it will be better when ripping fish out of slop. Is my mentality correct?

A MH wouldn't make it a finesse setup. It's just choosing spinning over casting at that point.

I have the 7' M for that exact setup you are looking at. So that's my recommendation. I love it and I also got the two piece version so I can take leave it in the truck when I'm traveling.

A 3000 on a MH is what I've set up for skipping jigs, spinners, chatters. It might also be used for T-Rigs...but I'd not use it for finesse.

2000 on a M would be the max I'd use for finesse work, though a 3000 would work.

My general finesse rig is a 1000 size on a ML

When I read the title I immediately thought a ML would be best for the job but what you described isn't what I would call finesse. In your case, I would lean toward the M if you want it to pull double duty but I am not a fan of throwing Texas Rigs on M rod. I would just go MH and only throw Texas Rigs with it if it were me.

I have the 7' Zodias M and ML; both with Vanford 3000's. I bought the M first....too stiff for finesse. Then I got the Medium-Light.....and its absolutely perfect for finesse - Drop Shot, Neko, Ned, etc.

DO NOT GET THE MH! It is too stiff for a spinning rod. I think the Medium is perfect for what you wanna do.

The Vanford pairs nicely with the Zodias. Its super lightweight!

I have the new Zodias 6,9 ML, paired with a vanford 2500 and find it excellent for ned rigs and 4/5 in senkos.  I have been having some trouble with a rod sock for it. I have a rod glove spinning, but it seems like the bottom guide of the rod extends so far out where it creates a really tight fit. Does anyone have  any experience or knowledge of any other rod sock that would adequately fit the 20 Zodias spinning? I am considering the Rod Sox, but I would like to know if anyone has used one with the new Zodais before I order it. Any insight is appreciated.

This is what I am considering as an alterative to the rod glove

I don't have the Vanford, but I do have a Pfluger mounted on a 7'M Zodias and it's an excellent rod for neds and such.
