Needing advice for bank fishing on a windy, sunny day tomorrow

Featured Replies

Taking the wife and 2 kids to do a little bank fishing tomorrow afternoon. Supposed to be around 70, sunny and pretty darn windy and want to give them the best chance at some action. What do you think, being windy and sunny moving baits with lots of flash? Throw into the wind, with the wind or straight down the bank and retrieve shallow? Just want to give them the best chance at having success and some advice would be great.

If it was just me, spinnerbait into the wind. Fishing with wife and kids in the wind, nah, I'd rather fly a kite. That's just me.

Spinner baits are good to throw into wind, especially beetle spins and similar for kids. That’s what mine have. I also have started Trigging a swim bait with 1/8 or 3/16 weight if the spins get snagged a lot.
Swim baits are great for kids in wind since it’s active like a spinner but still heavy enough to throw and doesn’t get caught as easily. It’s just not great conditions for kids.

But honestly when it’s really windy, my kids (10 and 7) typically end up sitting and reading or exploring.  Or we go to the park. It’s just frustrating for them to deal with all that wind.

Night crawler under a bomber.  If the wind is to strong for a bobber, Night crawler Carolina rigged.  Kids just want action, and nothing gets action like a live worm.
