That has to be the nicest looking empty white box I have ever seen.

Alright so, I'm gonna go there..

Pwned? =X

You cant fix stupid.

That's an old video that's been posted before.

The end was completely predictable given how the boat was being driven into the wake of that other boat.

This has to be at least the 3rd time its been posted here.  The video has gone viral!!!  ;):)

Seriously, they say, "Wear your kill switch, it will save your life."

I say, don't drive like a freakin' moron.

i still love the part where it says Greg was unconscious and in the water for 10 mins. what did the boat do that was taping? go get coffee?

the real shame is theres a lot of boaters out there with a ton of common sense that could have told the driver what was going to happen.

the lifejacket and kill switch saved Gregs life, but only because Greg made it.

I see guys flying like that on the Delta all the time.  Not only do they put themselves in danger, but other boats as well.

Only cross a wake if you're in a center console. Not a flats boat!!!

LOL so true. The boat was unstable and getting steadily worse through out the entire video. Then he hits the wake like that. He was a man looking for an accident to go to.

Unlike the movies, in real life when you are in trouble you ease down on the throttle, you don't just push through, give your battle howl, and expect it will turn out all right.

The 10 minutes though is worrisome. They are either incorrect on the amount of time, or they just circled him waiting to see if he'd wake up. LOL

People drive their high powered bass boats like jerks.

I almost got t-boned on a foggy morning by a guy going full blast in the fog. I was fishing a hump when a bass tour. started. A hand full of fisherman left the docks at full blast.

Which people are you referring to?

A rather broad brush IMO.

yeah it is a broad brush but IMO it is an inevitable result of not requiring licenses for driving a boat AND a total lack of funds to enforce the rules of the road on the lakes and rivers of this nation.

It is only human as I go down Wylie from end to end, I may pass a hundred boats without issue, it is the one nimrod who over takes me on an intercept course and nearly crushes my boat because he does not know who has the right of way...

"Which people are you referring to?"

People who drive their boats like they are the only boaters on the lake.

The morning I almost got T-boned by a tournament fisherman is a good example. He might have been the only one who almost hit me, but there were other who were going to fast for the conditions. I couldn't see them because of the fog, but I could hear them all to well.

I was out the other morning in VERY thick fog, and there was some idiot pulling a skier. Visibility MAY have been as high as 15-20 ft. At the most.

It's not hard to understand. You can see it on the nations roadways everyday. Overall, there are way too many jerks on the roads these days. It stands to reason the waterways would be the same way.

How many times on this very board have you seen guys indicating they're about to make the jump from an aluminum boat to a high speed bass boat? Or from a shore fishermen to the same type boat?

Often, and those that post on internet forums are just a microcosym of the bigger picture.

Just what experience do these new boaters have that makes them a safe person to boat around on the weekends? Where did they learn? Who taught them how to control Chine walk? Where did they learn to run rough water safely? etc?

Some of that stuff isn't taught in classes and some of it has to be learned by on the water experience. IMO, there are a number of inconsiderate bass boaters out there, there are another number of bass boaters who don't have a grasp on how to drive their high speed boat safely and are in over their head and then another number of fairly newbie drivers out there who are at some stage of just learning. Put enough on this group in with safe boat operators and problems will inevitably happen.

And this is just the bass boaters.  The numbers for pleasure boaters would probably frighten all of us and the reasons are simple.  They spend less time on the water since their season is usually from Memorial day to Labor day AND way too many of them get to the lake and suddenly think that safety, common sense along with courtesy towards others will ruin their weekend.  There's a frightening number of those kinds of people that somehow think since THEY are going to the lake that rules don't apply to them.  Like they've gone to some sort of heaven for a few days where they can do as they like and leave common sense behind.

Those are the scary ones.

I would not be fishing a hump in open water on a foggy morning to begin with. It is everyones responsibility to try to be safe. And knowing that people drive like morons I would not put myself in a dangerous situation like that.

Its a large lake "Trinity Lake NorCal" and I was fishing a hump that was pretty close to the shore. I could almost hit the shore with a far cast. The other boaters were racing to get to "their" spot and were clearly thinking about their tourney and not boat safety.

You might not put yourself in a "situation like that"... you might as well give up going out on the water. I was in a safe spot and the boater that almost hit me was also in danger of running aground.

Agree.  Maybe they were checking to see if they were in his will before rescuing him?  Must not have been.

Time and hard lessons are one kind of wisdom.  I bet he won't cross a wake again doing Mach 1-unless the accident gave him amnesia.  But he has the video to remind him.
