Looking to upgrade t-rig/jig rod

Featured Replies

I'm looking to upgrade my t-rig/ jig rod. Currently using a e6x and I feel I could get a better rod in the same price range. Sensitivity isn't there. I used other rods that I feel are more sensitive and cost less $$$. I jumped at the loomis name when picking it up last year and didn't really do my research.

Looking for:

7' to 7'3"

3/8 to 1oz. Lighter on the low end if possible.

Good sensitivity

$250 budget

Pairing it with a Curado 200k

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tight Lines.

The Daiwa Tatula Elite rods are pretty good. They make a 6'9" and a 7'1" H/F that should handle jigs between 3/8 and 1oz well. I would also take a hard look at the 7'2" H/F Shimano Expride. Every now and then, I see people nab one for under $250 and those are very good rods for the price.

Depending on what your cover looks like in your area, you might be better off looking for a MH rod designed to handle 3/8oz and 1/2oz jigs and using your current heavy rod for heavier jigs. If you can find a MH-H rod, those usually work very well. In my case, that's what I did since most cover is situational so a lot of my jig fishing is more structure fishing than heavy cover flipping, and also to me. Also, having a sensitive rod for fishing structure is more beneficial than throwing into cover imo

Currently using 7'6" MH Expride and 7'3" XH Expride, love the feel, "softer" tip, and my most sensitive rods.  I throw up to listed 1/2 oz jigs on the MH which seems to be the limit.  I don't know first hand but the 7'2" MH should fish similarly, probably even a touch more "sensitive".  Slightly more expensive than your budget, but close.  I definitely recommend.

I have a Tatula Elite  jig rod for sale in the Flea Market. Very sensitive, and has serious backbone.

SC Victory Marshall 7’3” MHF casting rod is state of the art for $200, a few sites offer 10% discount for new orders.

If you're willing to spend just a touch more sierra.com has a killer deal on the Daiwa BLX 7' MH rod. It's rated for 1/4-1oz with an extra fast tip, and is a very sensitive rod. The normal retail on them is $399, but Sierra currently has that rod for $279. I've been using one this season paired up with the 21' Zillion SV for T-rigs and lighter jigs, and so far I absolutely love this rod.

Shimano Zodias Med Hvy Fast 3/8 - 1oz for $209. Fishes like a Med Hvy Plus and is sensitive in my hands.

A bit over your budget but I love my MegaBass Orochi XX Braillist for jigs.   $299 if you can find them.
