  1. Just thought this is a fun random topic. When you buy a new rod do you take the plastic off right away or do you fish it for awhile until the plastic breaks off?
  2. JDM and US Metanium both have brass main gear. Zillion only US has brass. Anyways zillion or metanium are by far the best choices in this price range.
  3. Perfect for all 1/2oz jigs including swim or chatter
  4. Never get rid of an 844. That is in the Mount Rushmore of rods.
  5. Just go to Shimanos parts website: https://fishshop.shimano.com order the knob from the 2500 size and you should be good to go.
  6. Vanford from digitaka or on sale hands down. For bass fishing you don’t need a metal frame and so you don’t need a stradic. Vanford is the point of diminishing returns for sure.
  7. I normally say 844 but if you already have a jig rod then go with the 843.
  8. Im not even old but man the world has changed. Just call around and directly ask for a discount until someone says ok. You will find one.
  9. I’ve owned both. If you do underhanded or sidearm casting you may want the 852, if not the why not go 872? The extra length will help you get a little more distance on casts. Sensitivity is the same on both.
  10. Mbr do chatterbaits well. A nice compromise between hook setting power and parabolic action to keep the fish pinned. I prefer the 844 but a lot of people like the 843. Another thing maybe would be walking topwater. The cbr rods are just too noodly for that. But overall the mbr actions are a lot closer to the jwr than the cbr.
  11. I was dissatisfied with that rod. It’s not as sensitive as it should be for an nrx but it’s tough to get a lot of sensitivity out of a moderate fast rod. I sold it and went to the curado 76 light but you could consider the zodias or imx pro 76 lights. I love my nrxs and conquests but I have to be getting my moneys worth and I don’t feel I did with that one but that’s just me.
  12. Sometimes if your throwing a heavier walking topwater and you want to really chuck it far the 844 will load up correctly vs other lighter power rods plus it has the tip to work them with little effort and the backbone to pull fish through the cover that sometimes you work your topwater over.
  13. Don’t overthink it. 4/0 heavy wire ewg is the hook. Super fluke. Just learn to be patient, soft jerks, long pauses if needed. If you overwork the fluke it’s not usually as effective. Maybe lose the swivel and learn the fg leader knot.
  14. If you can find the new curado rods on sale they are awesome
  15. The answer to your original question is yes the conquest could be less sensitive than the nrx because it doesn’t have as fast of an action. I personally have noticed this. My nrx+ 852 is a lot more sensitive than my nrx+ 901 and I feel it’s because the 852 is xfast and the 901 is fast. And that is actually what g loomis themselves market since they promote the xfast rods as jwr (jig and worm) in other words, bottom contact, highly sensitive rods. Don’t get caught up in the rocket science that people are trying to explain in this thread. You had the right idea from the beginning.
  16. I have a few metaniums and haven’t seen a need to buy a bantam. It is still an inferior reel. Only things you could need that met doesn’t have would be more line capacity and the new infinity drive which makes it easier to turn the handle. At jdm prices it just doesn’t make sense to buy a bantam over a met unless you need one of those two things.
  17. R2sea matt daddy for sure. It’s just a good all around frog period.
  18. New nasci is sick. Also as was mentioned the fuego. These are the best two by far for bass.
  19. Megabass Levante Whipsnake. Better than all of the rods above. I fish it next to my nrx+ rods.
  20. Well as far as orochi vs levante my theory is that the orochi came out in 2018 and the levante line was rereleased in 2019 because the first line had some breakage issues. They obviously updated the blanks. As far as weight goes it may just be the cork in the orochi that makes it heavier but I’ve never held an orochi that felt light and well balanced compared to exprides and nrx or glx.
