  1. Will that handle fit on a scorpion dc? I think the scorpion dc is the same as the curado 70 body wise.
  2. Does anybody know where I can buy just the handle? I would like a couple to put on a couple other reels I have (scorpion dc)
  3. I’m guessing you have jig rods. I was referring to the mbr tapered rods.
  4. I just also got the 844 after using the 843. The 843 really had trouble driving any single hook bait. 843 was better for light wire hooks and treble hooks although it loaded up and casted amazing. 844 is better for all around 3/8-3/4 oz baits regardless of type.
  5. I’m glad that was your answer because I should be getting my xg in the mail in a couple days ?
  6. I noticed you mentioned you caught stripers on this reel and it seems like you got all xg’s. Why did you get all xg’s and how have they handled heavy cover and the stripers? Were you always able to turn the handle or did it ever lock up at all? I know this doesn’t mean it’s a bad reel I just was curious.
  7. I started a poll on this a couple months ago. If you search it should come up. There are two camps, some think you need a moderate rod and others like a fast action. I ended up going somewhere in between with a loomis mbr 844. I tried the 843 and thought it was too light to fish around grass and vegetation where the chatterbait works the best.
  8. Verdict: I ended up with a loomis mbr and it is perfect. BUT, at first I got the 843 and it didn’t have nearly enough power for big single hook baits. I returned it for an 844 and it is perfect! I’ve landed a bunch of Chatterbait fish with it already and it’s the perfect combo of power and forgiveness for setting the hook and fighting the fish. That’s my two cents.
  9. I’m basically stuck between Expride 7’6” xh, megabass bunker buster or loomis glx 895c flipping rod. But comparing weights if really important to me.
  10. Does anyone know where I can find rod weights? I want to compare the weights of say the Expride 73xh or 711xh to the megabass bunker buster which I think weighs 6oz.
  11. Does anyone have one of these? Preferably in the destroyer series? If so, how does it compare to an Expride xh? Does it have a decent taper or is it a pool cue? Trying to get a high end rod for heavy cover flipping. I have multiple exprides and had one orochi but sold it. I can’t find hardly any reviews on this rod.
  12. I’ve owned all the slx reels except the mgl. XT is DEFINITELY worth the extra money for the adjustability. But the dc is the best although it is slightly bigger and heavier.
  13. Does anyone know if the actions are the same on these two? TW says one is fast and the other is mod fast. ???
  14. As in Nrx or other $500+ rods? It’s hard to tell with all the sponsor promoting that goes on. I know pros have to promote their sponsors but just in general do you use super high end rods or would they be more in the 200-400 dollar range?
  15. You guys are killing me here. One guy says they are faster, the next says they are slower and one says they are the same.
  16. I know the JWRs are very fast, so does that mean the MBRs are equivalent to most other companies Fast action? For example, I own a Dobyns DX743C which is a fast action rod. My understanding is that the MBRs should be slower than this rod? Is that true? I’m confused because people compare the MBRs to the JWR tapers which are made to be super fast.
  17. This is a great thread but yeah it’s making it tough!?
  18. I’m trying to narrow this down.
  19. As a dedicated chatterbait rod which one would you pick and why? They are pretty close in price.
  20. Whopper plopper 130 white in the rain around 6lb
  21. I’m looking to get a fair deal on a new nrx in the Houston area. Any recommendations?
  22. Here’s my thing with Lews, I wanna try one because I know they’re good but they have like a million different reels. I have a decent budget but i know you don’t necessarily have to drop $300 to get a nice reel. What are the differences between their reels, again I’m looking for small, light and smooth reeling.
  23. I have small hands and I love the new slx line of reels for this reason. However, when I fish them alongside my curado k the retrieve is way smoother on the curado. I’m now looking for a reel as smooth as the curado but smaller. I know think the dc is smaller but it’s not light from what I understand due to the dc components. What say you?
  24. Do people always use trailers on jigs, spinners, buzz, etc? Or will fish eat them without a trailer. It seems like everyone always adds trailers.
