  1. I have conquest and nrx+. The only reason to buy nrx+ over the conquest is if you need an extra-fast action or a specific length that doesn’t come in conquest.
  2. Wanted to head up to the vermillion area next week on the yak hoping to find some shallow smallies. I’ve never fished it before so any help is appreciated. You can dm me if needed. Thanks.
  3. Only rod I know of that could handle all the techniques you mentioned is the glx 843. I would get that and a zillion. Unless you can swing a metanium.
  4. I’ve had almost all the rods mentioned above and the levante has been the best all around and I’m typically a Shimano gloomis guy.
  5. Mb levante whipsnake with 3000 nasci
  6. Lighter weedless head should help. Or fish a fluke.
  7. Mb are heavy for the price compared to Shimano and loomis until you get to the destroyer line.
  8. I’ve owned a few exprides, and currently have one conquest and a few nrx+. For me if I’m not using the rod often I kick myself for spending a bunch of money on it. So if you do a lot of the type of fishing you would use the rod for then you are going to use it and enjoy it. My favorite technique is Chatterbait fishing and I use a conquest 844 for it and love every second of it. Second favorite is probably throwing a Texas rig and I use an nrx+ 873 and love it.
  9. Mgl for sure. I had an mgl first, then tried the dc and now I know the mgl is better in most situations and actually casts farther than the dc a lot of times.
  10. Surprised to hear the above. I use mine for various treble hook baits.
  11. Only conquest I have is 844 mbr but it’s my favorite rod. I also have nrx+ 903, 873, 854 and an 852 spinning. I can’t really say one is more sensitive than the other. I think more than anything the action you are looking for will dictate which one you go with. If you want an mbr action then you can’t go wrong with the conquest. If not then I’m sure you can find something in the nrx+ line that will fit the bill.
  12. I have both. Conquest is still lighter and stronger, conquest has spiral x AND high power x. The nrx+ only has spiral x. It’s close but if I could only have one I’d go conquest.
  13. A couple other options: expride 7’7” h loomis 904 mbr which is 7’5”
  14. You just need to practice. Usually a Chatterbait bite throws slack in your line and it’s obvious it’s a fish not just because the blade stops but also because it feels weightless for a second. You already said that if you reel fast enough the bait will come to the surface so if you practice you should be able to find the right speed where the baits lightly touches the top of the grass but doesn’t hang up. That is what everybody is referring to when they say that a Chatterbait is good for grass. If I get a bunch of grass on my Chatterbait i try to rip it off with the rod and if that doesn’t work then I speed reel it in and clean it.
  15. I use braid on all my reels except for finesse spinning I use braid to leader. No problems. But a lot of benefits like longer casting, more sensitivity and hardly ever breaking off. I do think flouro is better around wood but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
  16. I have 3 met b already and to me there isn’t a better reel regardless of price. It’s only weakness is it doesn’t hold a ton of line. Strong, light, small, casts farther than dc reels and feels great.
  17. If you fish more light wire hooks get an 843mbr and if you fish heavy wire hooks get an 844mbr.
  18. Isn't Soddy Daisy the same as Dallas Bay? That's where I'll be camping so I think I'll be limited to the Dallas Bay Area and maybe be able to run across to the Harrison Bay. Any tips for fishing these areas? Can we ledge fish in here still or will we have to fish the main river channel? Any other tips?
  19. I literally finally just learned the other day. Here’s what I did different: I used a 1/2 oz jig with a beaver trailer. In the past I had used lighter jigs. I think the heavier jig actually gets up to speed easier. Also, I actually turned the brakes down so I could get the necessary speed and I just thumbed it the whole time. If you turn the brakes up too high it’s actually counterintuitive because you need that speed to get the skip. And actually Gerald Swindle recommended this in a video I saw on YouTube.
  20. So there are no kayak only areas. What about areas where bass boats can’t get to?
  21. My pb was caught on a white whopper plopper in the rain.
  22. I know! Mine is too, that’s why I didn’t include it ?
  23. Which one is your favorite and what do you use each one for? I’m including the 873 even though it’s technically a 3 power.
  24. Just got my 854 and 873! Haven’t fished them but I will end up keeping the 873 and selling the 854. The 873 is better balanced than my old 873 and slightly better balanced than the 854 since the 873 has a longer handle. From the reel seat up the 873 is only about 1 3/8” longer than the 854 so maybe the 854 would be preferable for someone who likes shorter handles. Oh I forgot to mention I’m using a 20 Met reel.
