Deep Crank Rod/Reel

Is your 804 a c or a cb?

The Champ 805cb or 806cb would be the 2 deep crank rods from the Champion line. If you throw 10XD's a lot the 806 would be the better choice. I have a 805cb with a Conquest 200 and it's awesome for 6xd size baits. I don't throw 10xd's much at all and I'm sure the 805 would handle them but the 806 was designed for the bigger baits.

The 804c you have is C-rig rod. I'm sure you could throw deep cranks on it but that isn't really what it was designed to do.

That’s a Carolina rig rod. The “Carolina rigging special”. No I wouldn’t use It for deep cranks personally.

I bought a Dobyns FR 803SB for throwing 8XD and 10XD. It is the Boom Boom Roumbanis swimbait rod that is the same blank as the 806cb, and even says 10XD right on it as one of the suggestions. Dobyns was closing them out for $139 not too long ago so I picked one up.

I currently throw 5XD and 6XD on a Dobyns 735cb glass.

Both are currently set up with Gen 3 Revo Winch reels.

IRG754F gen3 Fred’s Magic is a decent big deep diving crank bait rod under $150. Suggest using 300 size reels 5.5:1 to 6.1:1 ratio.
