Asian Portal Fishing

Featured Replies

Anybody done business with Asian Portal Fishing? Are they reputable/legit? How quickly did your rods/reels arrive? Was your purchase exactly what you thought you were buying and is it quality? Sorry for all the questions but this would be my first JDM purchase.

I have ordered from there several times. I have purchased from the website and Ebay store.

No issues.

Reels got here in about a week but I'm on the East Coast.

All reels were as expected.

They're shipping a rod to me this week - BFS for reservoir bass (shock all you gus)

They're among the best prices you can find, and completely reliable.

Purchased 20+ reels from them in the last few years. 100% EVERYTIME!!!!!

They're legit. Took about 7-10 days. Everything was great quality.

they are one of the best, ordered about 15 rod and reels from them, shipping free by fedex. I got them 3 to 5 days at the most.

Agree with all the above. Only problem right now is inventory but that seems to be the case with everyone.

I bought all of my JDM reels from them, they have the best prices and shipping is pretty quick as well.  They only ship twice per week to my knowledge so they may be a wee bit slower than other Japanese shops, but the savings on the products makes it well worth it.

I've bought from them quite a few times. My stuff gets here in 3 days usually. I'm in the Midwest.

Same here.  Good experience each time I have ordered and quick delivery.  I have only purchased reels though...never a rod

I've noticed their rods can be pretty expensive compared to other places I shop.  One of my Major Craft trout rods was priced  ~$225 on Asian Portal, probably to accommodate for shipping.  It isn't an overly long rod, just a 4'10" 2-piece.  Digitaka and PLAT both had the same rod for well under $200 shipped.  $140 and $160.

the problem with rods is always finding stock - even was in 2019.

Digitaka and Plat may show a rod with a good price in their online catalog, but actually being able to buy one means being there at the right time - and I've bought several great rods from Plat.

The way to buy a rod on Plat is to follow their News page for stock arrival, or begin shopping on their In Stock Now page.

The good stuff sells out within a day of its arrival in their inventory, and this was the same in 2019, 2018, etc.

On recent Asian Portal rod purchase, went through their entire rod inventory, found 3 rods that would more or less meet my spec and price, then picked the widest lure weight range from those three.  I compared prices to Digitaka and Plat, and while the catalog prices were slightly better, they had no inventory.  Also went to the rod builder's website, and Asian Portal had sliced their listed retail by more than 20% - throw in free FedEx shipping.

Allowed me to buy what I wanted without making the compromise I didn't want.  I'd never find a rod to meet that spec in US inventory.

Have them reserve it for you.  I just ordered a Major Craft Finetail Stream Glass from them, but it won't be available to ship until early June.  The rod isn't on the market yet, but I sent an email inquiring and was told I could reserve one, so I placed my order a couple of weeks ago.  I received an update yesterday that the early June time frame was still good and it will ship out as soon as they receive it.

I'm sending this to a few domestic vendors as "a target" for improved shipping performance.

Congrats on the new stick

Same experience for myself, I can order on Monday and have the item by Thursday at the latest from them.

Thanks friend,

I plan to take it with my kayak to the local no-motors reservoir a few times this summer.

They are my go to shop. Why wouldn't you be buying what you think you are buying? Are you just suspicious of anyplace that isn't American? Does paying a jacked up $100 more for the same reel seem safer to you? Of course you are. They are a legit shop. I've bought maybe 19 reels from them and even in the middle of Covid they offer free shipping that got to my house in the Midwest within 2-4 days. Just buy it already...
