Looking for a glass cranking rod to use with 1 and 1.5 squarebills, 1/2oz lipless crankbaits, and various topwaters (whopper plopper medium size, kvd sexy dawgs jr, poppers, and several others), and 3/8oz and 1/2 chatterbaits.  What's some that you'd recommend??

under 250 i guess.

I just got a St Croix Legend Glass this spring.  By far the nicest glass rod I've ever used. I plan on replacing all my cranking sticks with these.

Do you think the 7'4" medium heavy would work good for what I mentioned or would the medium be better?

Dobyns Champion XP is another option

For 1.5 and slightly larger crankbaits I use a Legend Glass 610MM and it's the most fun rod in my arsenal IMO.

 

 

St. Croix Mojo Bass Glass is in your price range.  Had one and it could flat out launch a crank bait.  I did not care for it but I think that had more to do with the fact that I don't throw a lot of cranks and had a LOT of trouble dialing in my reel...any reel...on that rod.  In other words, I think it was more of a "me" problem than a rod issue.

Another vote for St.Croix Legend Glass.  By far the best crank bait rod I have used.  

 

Also, personal preference, I don't care for moderate rods for top water or chatter baits.  For top water I like a fast rod MH or Heavy.   For chatter baits I like a moderate fast rod or a jerkbait rod.

That's the model I picked up.  It would be good for some of those things but not ideal for all.  I got mine for mid-sized cranks up to 6xd's max.  I was surprised at how well it threw a DT6 so I would say it will probably work fine for squarebills (1.5 and up). 1/2 lipless - yes, bladed jigs - yes, ploppers - yes.  I would say eh, for things like dawgs and poppers.  It would be a bit cumbersome to work baits like that.  I believe they have a 6'10mh which might serve you better if you're looking for that broad of range of baits.
