Deja vu in fishing?

Featured Replies

So yesterday I went out and last 5 minutes of fishing I flipped to some cover and caught a three pounder. Today with 5 minutes left I went to the same price of cover for the hell of it with the exact same lure and color in the exact same place and pulled out a different three pounder. Has this happened to anyone else, and why the hell as they stacked up there lol. Maybe the baitfish really like it because it's got a ton of protection ? maybe it's just one of those things. I have pulled a total of 7 bass from this one piece of shallow structure this year and it's about the size of a small car like a prius. Anyone else had this happen?

Last winter I fished a weed bed in the middle of a pond I frequent and pulled out 3 fish over 5lbs on  three consecutive days. You can't see the weeds from shore, but I have fished it so much I know where the boundaries of it are. I never got more than one fish a day out of it, all in cold weather ripping the same"Diamond Dust" Ratl-Trap through it.

The best pieces of cover/structure are going to hold the most fish.  A lot of times, there will be one or multiple directly on or in it, with more close by. So if you a fish leaves the prime part of that area, a new one could very likely move in and take it's place quickly.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make after catching a bass is not making follow up casts.

Case in point, a brush pile can hold multiple fish.

I caught my PB at a spot right up against the bank that had a little hole that was deeper than normal. Cattails came out on both sides of it. Within a few months I cast there again and hooked another fish app. the same size but lost it when it  jumped. Fast forward 35 years and my son caught one that was a few oz shy of my Pb about 30 feet down the bank from there…  He caught another fish that was the same lenght of my PB but was a skinnier fish than mine just a few feet to the right of the other big fish he caught…One of those 2 fish is his PB .

There’s a reason the first fish was there, it’s a good spot. Why wouldn’t another one like it?
